On November 22, the New York Health Foundation hosted a webinar with Silpa Srinivasulu, MPH, our Director of Programs and Evaluation at the Reproductive Health Access Project. The event highlighted the critical role primary care settings play in delivering reproductive health services, particularly in underserved communities. While abortion care is legal and protected in the state of New York, access remains uneven, with many patients facing barriers to receiving services like medication abortion. The webinar delved into the structural, educational, and organizational challenges that limit the availability of these services in primary care and noted the lack of data on how many practices currently provide them. Silpa shared insights into our efforts to address these issues, emphasizing strategies for expanding access and overcoming systemic obstacles. Attendees gained a deeper understanding of the barriers and opportunities for advancing equitable reproductive health care.
