We are excited to announce our partnership with the non-profit Cultiv8Community! Located near Riverby Ranch, an extension of our Bois d’Arc Lake PRM project in Texas, Cultiv8Community has joined us in celebrating the incredible ecological diversity this restoration has brought to life. Rob Spencer, Lead Cultivator for Cultiv8Community, shared, “Since RES began restoration work on the Bois d’Arc Lake PRM project, we’ve observed a significant increase in wildlife on our property.” Together, we have been using the unique space at the Riverby Ranch to host engaging field trips and public education events. The enhanced ecological diversity has transformed the area into a haven for wildlife and a valuable educational resource for the community. We are proud to collaborate with Cultiv8Community to leverage the restoration project's success to promote regional learning. If you'd like to plan a visit, please contact rob@cultiv8community.org. Restoring a resilient earth for a modern world
About us
As the nation’s largest nature-based solutions company, RES (Resource Environmental Solutions) is restoring a resilient earth for a modern world, project by project. RES creates durable, resilient natural infrastructure for communities through solutions for environmental mitigation, stormwater and water quality, and climate and flooding resilience. RES has a unique operating model for delivering ecological mitigation and restoration projects based on science-led design, integrated delivery, and long-term performance. From headwaters to coastal shores, RES designs, builds, and sustains sites that preserve the environmental balance, lifting impaired ecosystems to restored health and ultimately, self-sufficiency. These projects restore sensitive wetland, prairie, and species habitats as well as floodplains, streams, river valleys, and coastal and tidal systems. The result is nature-based systems that cleanse water, shelter wildlife, buffer storms, and sequester carbon from the atmosphere.

We were thrilled to host Walter Emil Veselka IV and his stream restoration class from West Virginia University during a site visit to Cherry Ridge! This visit is part of Walter's efforts to bridge the gap between academia and industry by developing an Ecological Career Readiness course at WVU. While the new course is in the works, Walter's existing stream restoration class offers students invaluable hands-on experiences. These include site visits to explore various restoration styles, challenges, and the reasoning behind stream restoration with professionals from the state, private, and NGO sectors. During this visit, we covered: ✅ The process of Mitigation Banking—from land acquisition and permitting to design, construction, and monitoring. ✅ The benefits of floodplain design restoration and its transformative impact on ecological resilience. The feedback from Walter reinforces why these collaborations matter: "Cherry Ridge was the best site I have been on since I began my mitigation site journey… I sincerely thank RES for investing in our students' education and providing access to such professional expertise. I hope some of these students find their way into your company and contribute to your successes." We're proud to invest in the education of future ecological leaders, helping them gain real-world insights and connections that will shape their careers in environmental restoration. #WeAreRES #streamrestoration

RES partnered with the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and a confidential customer to turn a hazardous dam into a safe, natural stream - all at no cost to taxpayers. Here’s how we did it: • Phase 1 - Opened a small dam section to drain the area and let sediment dry. • Phase 2 - Removed the dam and re-established a healthy stream and riparian wetlands to tie in a stable watershed up and downstream for a holistic fish-passage barrier (the dam) removal and ecosystem restoration. Next up: planting native plants to support wildlife and monitoring for the next three years to ensure this new habitat flourishes! Check out the before-and-after photos to see the incredible transformation so far! #WeAreRES #streamrestoration

Happy #BatWeek! Did you know the federally endangered Indiana Bat is a vital part of forest and cave ecosystems in the Midwest? These nocturnal insectivores play a major role in controlling insect populations and lowering crop pests' populations. This migratory bat hibernates colonially in caves and mines in the winter. Cave ecosystems benefit from Indiana bats because their droppings, called guano, are an essential nutrient source for many cave-dwelling organisms. RES is committed to restoring and preserving these natural habitats through conservation initiatives. In 2021, RES received formal approval from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) for the first endangered bat species conservation bank in Indiana. The Indiana Statewide Bat Conservation Bank (ISBCB) includes over 200 acres of high-quality forest habitat protection and restoration near a Priority I hibernaculum. The development of the Bank assures that this habitat, which Indiana bats rely on for feeding before entering hibernation and spring migration, will be protected in perpetuity to help preserve this species. The salmon have come home. Klamath dam removal was completed mere weeks ago, but salmon have already made it to Oregon. Jefferson Public Radio reached out to Dan Chase, Director, Fisheries, Aquatics & Design for RES. “Those crews were out right away getting surveys done to be able to get these early detections of fish coming back,” says Chase. Together, these groups are “weaving together this network of information that's being shared to understand where and when these fish are coming back and where they're showing up.” As the fish return, they find a new landscape—one that does not resemble the streams they were in before the dams and one that is still raw and changing from the removal of reservoirs only months prior. As the restoration contractor for this epic project, our responsibility is to accelerate recovery in those formerly drowned lands by connecting floodplains, shaping channels, adding habitat, and reestablishing native plant communities. https://lnkd.in/gdEvRNse Video from Swiftwater Films Inc #KlamathRiverRenewal #KlamathRiverRestoration #WeAreRES #Klamath #California #Oregon

We are pleased to announce that the Shasta Indian Nation and RES have agreed to jointly restore traditional tribal land slated for return to tribal ownership. Copco No. 1 Dam and reservoir in far Northern California were built a century ago on land sacred to the Shasta people. Now that the Klamath River hydroelectric dams have been removed, the formerly inundated areas need to be replanted and restored. The restoration plan will benefit from the Tribe’s wealth of traditional ecological knowledge, handed down from generation to generation, that is specific to this area. Under the agreement, Tribal members will become part of the restoration team starting immediately, assisting with revegetation, wildlife monitoring, spawning habitat surveys, relocation of juvenile and adult salmonids, fish passage monitoring, water quality sampling, and more. An additional round of seed gathering will be performed to include culturally important plants that were not a part of the restoration plan developed prior to California’s decision to return land that was taken by force. This new partnership is complementary to RES’ existing partnership with the Yurok Tribe, who will also continue to work on the restoration project. #KlamathRiverRenewal #KlamathRiverRestoration #WeAreRES #Klamath #California #Oregon

We're proud to have partnered with the University of Richmond to restore a 2,300-foot section of Little Westham Creek, transforming it into a vibrant Eco-Corridor. This once-unused section of campus has become a treasured feature in the community, serving as an educational space and a living lab for hands-on student learning. Focused on habitat restoration, we developed an Eco-Corridor Master Plan featuring a trail and green space amenities. Faculty, students, and the local community are embracing the Eco-Corridor for birdwatching, biology fieldwork, and environmental research. Want to learn more about how this space benefits education and the community? Check out this recent article from UR Now explaining the project's meaningful impact on the campus. #WeAreRES #nature https://lnkd.in/eWBhmN4e

One of the most exciting parts of our work is checking in on project trail cam footage — we never know what we’ll find! This time, our cameras captured a flurry of animal activity at our Pea Hill site in Prince George’s County, MD. The project has had a busy summer, with a heron wading through the restored streams, deer exploring the revitalized habitat, a flock of turkeys strutting through the green space, and even a dove making an appearance. These images remind us that our restoration work isn’t just about stabilizing streams—it’s also about creating thriving habitats for wildlife. #WeAreRES #nature
