RESA Advocates for Retail Energy Choice
About us
The Retail Energy Supply Association (RESA) is a broad and diverse group of retail energy suppliers who share the common vision that competitive retail electricity and natural gas markets deliver a more efficient, customer-oriented outcome than a regulated utility structure. RESA is devoted to working with all stakeholders to promote vibrant and sustainable competitive retail energy markets for residential and industrial consumers. Why It Matters: A competitively priced retail market grants families, businesses and manufacturers the power to choose. Consumers are able to find energy solutions that are right for their needs and take control of their energy costs. In return, suppliers are more attentive to customer needs as they are eager to obtain - and maintain - their business. This ultimately spurs the creation of innovative energy solutions tailored to individual customers. WHY WE OPERATE Competition—not regulation—is the most effective means to allocate resources efficiently. Electricity and natural gas should be provided by competitive entities rather than by price-regulated utilities. Retail competition is essential for markets to thrive and thus allows consumers to shop for energy that is competitively priced and best suits their individual needs. The ability to choose an electric and gas supplier should be a right that is available to all consumers, not just those who reside in restructured states or jurisdictions.

RESA believes consumers should have the power to choose their electricity and natural gas suppliers. Just like picking an internet or phone provider, consumers who live in restructured energy markets can decide which #EnergySupplier offers the right energy products for their home or business needs. #EnergyChoice #GreenEnergy #CompetitiveMarkets #EnergyEfficiency #SustainableLiving #EmpowerYourEnergy

This year, consider saving your wrapping paper, gift bags, and gift boxes so you can use them again next year. This will cut down on waste during the holidays. And remember, wrapping paper usually cannot be recycled due to its coating, but cardboard boxes and holiday cards are perfect for recycling! Plan ahead and give our planet a gift this holiday season! #HolidaySustainability #ReduceReuseRecycle #EcoFriendly #GreenHolidays

📢 We’re excited to announce the release of RESA’s Annual Energy Trend Report, highlighting how competitive retail energy markets empower consumers and drive significant savings. Press release here: https://bit.ly/3VsQ4la 📊 Key Findings: - 15.9 million residential customers chose competitive retail energy suppliers in 2023—serving 46.4% of customers in energy choice states. - Since 2008, consumers in monopoly states could have saved over $703 billion across residential, commercial, and industrial sectors if given the power of choice. - In competitive markets, 86.2% of commercial and industrial energy needs were met by retail suppliers, proving the efficiency and innovation of choice. 💡 Why It Matters: Competitive markets foster innovation, cost savings, and access to customized solutions like renewable energy options and fixed-rate contracts. These markets are critical to meeting aggressive zero-emission goals and enhancing consumer empowerment. #EnergyChoice #CompetitiveMarkets #RESAReport #ConsumerSavings

RESA advocates on behalf of consumers to ensure that power remains accessible and affordable to everyone. For competition to be effective, all consumers must be afforded the right to shop for competitively priced energy products and services, just as they shop for other products and services.
