🚀 Scaling BVLOS Operations: Overcoming Key Challenges 🚀 The future of Beyond Visual Line of Sight (#BVLOS) operations hinges on solving critical challenges in interoperability, cybersecurity, operational safety, and regulatory compliance. At ResilienX, we partnered with the Federal Aviation Administration and industry leaders to explore how an In-Time Aviation Safety Management System (#IASMS) can pave the way for safe, scalable BVLOS operations. 🔹 Key Challenges Identified: ✔️ Interoperability Gaps – Lack of standardized data sharing in federated UTM ecosystems ✔️ Cybersecurity Threats – Increased risks from unauthorized access and malware attacks ✔️ Operational Safety & Reliability – Gaps in telemetry data integrity and real-time risk mitigation ✔️ Regulatory Barriers – Need for new BVLOS standards focused on operational assurance 🔹 Why IASMS? Our yearlong FAA-backed project demonstrated that IASMS can actively monitor, assess, and mitigate off-nominal conditions in real time—ensuring safer, more reliable UAS and AAM operations. 🔹 Key Takeaways: 🗝️ The path to BVLOS scalability requires proactive safety assurance 📊 20+ Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) were defined to measure success ✔️ Live flight tests confirmed that IASMS can significantly enhance ecosystem resilience Next Steps: Collaborate with us on the ASTM International F38 Task Group developing a Standard Guide for IASMS Functionality, kicking off in one week on 2/19 at 1pm ET! Reach out to ResilienX CTO Matthew Synborski to get involved. Read the full white paper here: https://lnkd.in/e3-cMdX4 #UTM #AAM #Drones #AviationSafety #ResilienX

Attention #UAS designers, integrators, service providers, and regulators. ResilienX is leading a new ASTM task group to publish a Standard Guide for In-Time Aviation Safety Management System (#IASMS) functionality. We feel this has been a long time coming, as we've experienced that most of the problems that happen with complex ecosystems are cross-cutting at the integration level. The standard guide is going to fill a gap, by highlighting approaches for mitigating many integration-level failure modes, during operations. The task group is kicking off on February 19th at 1:00 PM ET. If you are interested in participating, please reach out to Matthew Synborski.

Today we are releasing our white paper, titled "Key Challenges and Solutions for Scaling BVLOS Operations" detailing the findings and outcomes of a yearlong project with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). It offers detailed insights into our recent FAA project’s methodologies, key performance indicators (KPIs), and actionable recommendations for stakeholders in the UAS and AAM sectors. “Our goal with sharing this whitepaper with industry is to provide something truly actionable. Scaling BVLOS operations require moving beyond conceptual frameworks and CONOPs to focus on tangible deployment strategies. The bridge that has frequently been missing is the identification of concrete requirements. In this white paper, we’ve detailed the KPIs, which represent the requirements we generated and tested against, and we believe should be foundational in all scaled BVLOS ecosystems. We’re excited to share these with industry and drive meaningful progress toward real-world deployment,” said Andrew Carter, CEO of ResilienX. "We invite industry professionals, policymakers, and researchers to review the findings and collaborate with us to shape the future of autonomous aviation." I can't believe ResilienX is already 6 years old. If LinkedIn didn't remind me every year, I would completely blow by the anniversary without pausing to appreciate how far we have come and how many great people we have worked with along the way. The rubber really hit the road this year as we transition from primarily R&D to supporting operations (not just test events, POC, simulations, etc.). That transition has been both terrifying and exciting. It wouldn't have been possible without our world-class team and amazing industry partners. I'm personally grateful for all of you (not tagging 1000 people here, but you know who you are)! 2025 is going to be exciting. I can't wait to reflect again this time next year on where ResilienX and the drone industry at large have grown to. Onward and upward!

Thanks for everything Lorenzo Murzilli and Eszter Kovács! We look forward to next year!
As the curtain falls on this extraordinary edition of Aerial Cities our gathering of innovation and ambition, the trajectory of our industry has never been clearer. Regulations, once the towering challenge, are no longer the primary bottleneck. The market has uncovered credible business cases, and the focus now shifts to the challenge of scale. Scaling is not for the faint-hearted. It demands investment and a willingness to engage in the gritty, foundational work. As the industry expands, the challenges of ensuring safety and reliability grow exponentially. Yet, the room for optimism remains vast. A robust services companies ecosystem is emerging and profitable. Companies like ResilienX, AVSS | Drone Parachute Recovery Systems & Guided Delivery Systems FlightOps.io Dimetor and, why not, Murzilli Consulting are here to enable scaling when full vertical integration is out of reach. However, let us not be naïve—big players with big numbers are the partners of choice. The good news? These heavyweights are beginning to show up, adding momentum and legitimacy to our collective efforts. Consolidation is also playing a key role in this necessary dynamic (Volatus Aerospace Drone Delivery Canada anyone?). If its survival of the fittest we must mention few of those who made the cut. HHLA Sky GmbH Etienne Louvet blueflite The stakes are high, and the pressure is rising. Cities have awakened to the transformative potential of our technologies, and political will is building at healthy levels. Thanks Manna Drone Delivery and other evangelists for making this possible. And then there’s EVTOL. We are coming out of a very negative phase (here is Europe) where the dreams of the ‘enthusiasts’ were crushed by markets and physics. But if you need to feel refreshed just have a chat with David Stepanek FRAeS for a taste of what’s to come. He will tell you that the future isn’t just bright—it’s unfolding before our very eyes. A special thanks to all our sponsors, guests and attendees for making this all possible! A huge shout out to Eszter Kovács, love of my life and partner in crime for ideating, planning and delivering the best event of the year! See you next year folks!
