Tree planting = good for nature, climate, humans - or is it? The Royal Society of Edinburgh (RSE) has published an important Inquiry into public financial support for tree planting and forestry. Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is a win-win solution for tackling pest, weed, and disease pressures! 🌱 At Neidpath Farms in the Scottish Borders, Matt is leading the way with IPM practices that benefit both the farm’s finances and the environment. One key change? Reducing the use of wormers and organophosphate dips for livestock. 🪱 "I want every field to have trees with medicinal properties available for grazing," says Matt. "Blood tests showed that our animals' mineral levels weren’t what I wanted them to be.” By improving pasture nutrition, Matt has boosted his cattle and sheep’s immunity, enhanced soil health, and helped dung beetles thrive. These hardworking beetles are crucial for controlling parasites and pest flies, cutting the need for chemical treatments, and supporting a sustainable ecosystem—all while boosting the bottom line! 🐄🐑

The World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) consolidated analysis indicates that 2024 was likely the first calendar year with a global mean temperature of more than 1.5°C above pre-industrial level. The message from the UN secretary-General is that there is still time to avoid a climate catastrophe BUT that leaders must act now. 2025 needs to be the year that we all take urgent action. #restorenature
