Nonprofit Organization: Compassionate and holistic support after pregnancy and infant loss.

I had the honor of receiving the Occupational Therapy Association of California Media Award for my work with the Return to Zero Film and Return to Zero: HOPE . Storytelling has the power to heal ourselves and others. I accepted this award on behalf of the RTZ community, knowing that community is essential in this very lonely journey of loss. We strive to make sense of and create meaning after this devastating loss.

  • 2024 Provider Spotlight Month Fundraiser 🧸 This year alone, we've sent over $3000 in grief and loss material samples to health providers so they are more resourced and empowered to support bereaved families. Will you donate and help us continue to get these resources into the hands of those that need them? Provider interactions during pregnancy and infant loss have a lifelong impact on a family’s healing and wellbeing. We partner with health professionals to ensure they have the training, emotional support, and resources they need to confidently care for families at one of the most tragic moments of their journey towards parenthood. Return to Zero: Hope is a non-profit community of bereaved parents, families, and providers offering inclusive resources and holistic support for anyone whose life has been touched by loss, including infertility, secondary infertility, miscarriage, ending a wanted pregnancy, stillbirth, infant or toddler death, loss through surrogacy or failed adoption. RTZ Hope supports organizations and individuals who work with parents who have experienced perinatal loss, including hospitals, clinics, health providers, midwives, doulas, lactation consultants, mental health clinicians, peer advocates, and support organizations. • As HOPEtober comes to a close, we want to pause and offer our deepest gratitude to all of those who were involved in this special month. To the Luminaries who shared their beautiful, brave stories: your courage has illuminated the path for so many others, and your words have helped raise awareness about pregnancy and infant loss. To everyone who donated, raised funds, or spread the word: your support means the world to us, thank you. Through the 46 heartfelt stories and images shared during HOPEtober, we’ve not only honored our beloved babies but also strengthened the bonds of our community. Together, we’ve reminded each other that no one has to walk this journey alone. HOPEtober marked the launch of our year-end fundraising drive with a goal of $75,000. Thanks to your generosity, we’ve already raised $10K throughout the month of October—an incredible start! But there’s still work to be done. If you’d like to contribute and help us reach our goal, you can make a donation at https://lnkd.in/gFESJ67p

  • 🎙️ A Heartfelt Conversation About Grief, Healing, and Advocacy 🤍 In a recent episode of Nathalie Himmelrich's “How to Deal with Grief & Trauma” podcast, Kiley Hanish, the founder of Return to Zero: HOPE, shared her story of loss and healing after the death of her son, Norbert. The episode, titled ‘Grieving Parents 10 Years Later’, offers a powerful and deeply personal reflection on what it’s like to walk through the grief of losing a child and how that journey evolves over the course of a decade. In her conversation with Nathalie, Kiley opens up about the incredible transformation she’s experienced in the 10 years since Norbert's passing—from being at the beginning of her healing journey to finding peace and purpose in advocacy for other grieving parents. As Kiley shared in the episode, “Ten years ago, I was just at the beginning of my healing journey. Everything has changed since then. I have processed my loss, integrated it into my being, found community with other loss parents, and become an advocate for change through Return to Zero: HOPE.” To listen to this incredibly moving conversation and gain insights into how grief evolves over time, check out the full episode by visiting http://bit.ly/PodKiley

I recently recorded this podcast with Nathalie Himmelrich as part of her 10th anniversary of her book, Grieving Parents: Surviving the Loss as a Couple (2014), which I contributed to. We spent this time reflecting on my journey over the past 10 years (and for me 19 years). It's such a helpful exercise to reflect to notice growth and change. Thank you for this opportunity. • 🌟✨ We are honored to share with you and shine light on more of our 2024 #hopetober luminaries. Our mission is to shine a light on these heart-wrenching stories, transforming grief into hope and connection. Each luminary we feature represents not just a story of loss, but also a beacon of hope for others navigating similar paths. 🌈 Every story shared is a step toward breaking the silence surrounding this often-taboo topic. By sharing our luminaries' experiences, we create a safe space for healing and understanding. We want to remind everyone that they are not alone—each story resonates with love, courage, and the unwavering bond between parents and their little ones. Join us in celebrating these remarkable individuals and their journeys.
