💔 A Call for Change in Family Court Systems 💔 This holiday season, we were reminded of a devastating truth: the family court system is failing too many families. Another protective parent lost their life—another tragic story of a system that overlooked the signs of abuse and coercive control, prioritizing bureaucracy over safety and justice. At Revival Haven, we see this pattern far too often: ⚖️ Safety must come first. Decisions in family court should prioritize the well-being of children and protective parents. ⚖️ Domestic violence and coercive control are misunderstood. Judges, attorneys, and court evaluators need comprehensive training to recognize and address these dynamics. ⚖️ Survivors deserve support, not scrutiny. Protective parents should not be vilified when advocating for their children's safety. These tragedies are preventable, but only if we collectively advocate for reform. Family court systems must be held accountable, with better training, resources, and safeguards to protect those at risk. At Revival Haven, we stand with survivors and protective parents, offering resources, advocacy, and a platform for their voices to be heard. Domestic Violence Awareness Month brought up a lot of emotions for me, as I’m sure it did for many of you. Now, I’m back with renewed energy and a deeper commitment to our mission at Revival Haven.
