🫒☀️The Mediterranean faces a mix of progress and adversity; conflicts, disinformation, youth unemployment, climate change and growing inequalities. These interconnected challenges drive migration, reflecting deep-rooted issues that demand urgent attention and form the core theme of this year’s #MediterraneanDay. This Mediterranean Day, we reflect on the outcomes of the MED Innovation Day’s interactive session, where diverse voices came together to envision a sustainable future for our region. Through engaging discussions during the World Café session, participants from various sectors shared their aspirations and actionable steps for a thriving Mediterranean by 2030. 💡 The Vision for 2030 A shared vision emerged: a Mediterranean thriving under blue and green economic models, cleaner coasts, renewable energy, and circular economies. ● Public Authorities dream of cross-border cooperation for eco-friendly growth. ● Academia sees the region as a global leader in sustainability, driven by innovation. ● Civil Society imagines communities adopting greener lifestyles. ● NGOs envision equity in socio-economic and environmental practices. ● Private Sector foresees investments in green technologies, building a low-carbon future. 🌱 Contributions Toward Change Each sector outlined their role in achieving this vision: ● Public Authorities: Regulatory reforms and regional partnerships. ● Academia: Researching sustainable technologies and educating future generations. ● Civil Society & NGOs: Raising awareness, empowering communities, and promoting biodiversity. ● Private Sector: Driving innovation through public-private collaborations. 🚧 Overcoming Challenges Participants identified the importance of collaboration and systemic change to overcome obstacles: ● Policy Reforms in plastic reduction, renewable energy, and agriculture. ● Increased Funding for interdisciplinary research and sustainability projects. ● Community Engagement to foster trust and behavior change. ● Stronger Partnerships between governments, NGOs, and businesses to drive scalable solutions. 🖼️ Graphic recording by Fanny Didou

On Thursday, we attended the first Forum dedicated to the Italian partners of Euro-MED projects, organised by the Euro-MED National Contact Point Italia of the Interreg Euro-MED Programme. It was a great opportunity to meet in person, catch up and share ideas on how to improve our cooperation. Highlighting once again the role of the Governance projects in supporting exchanges between the Thematic projects and in promoting the uptake of their results. Together with some of the Italian partners of our Thematic projects, we tried to map and localise solutions that they will implement at the Italian level to address the #challenges identified by their projects. And it was interesting to see how close they could be in terms of methodologies, approaches and tools to involve the actors of the 4-helix and drive innovation towards sustainable development 🌿 But even more outstanding was their active participation. They contributed to the exercise with genuine curiosity, also trying to understand how their actions could be mutually beneficial and applied in their respective projects. A great result, especially as we are increasingly encouraged to be more coordinated in order to maximise the impact of our actions 🆙 Special thanks to Interreg Euro-MED Programme, Euro-MED National Contact Point Italia, Regione Emilia-Romagna Cooperazione territoriale europea, Università di Siena, Alessandro Daraio, Stefania Leoni, Nicoletta Patrizi, Sara Giunchi, Interreg Euro-MED Natural Heritage, Interreg Euro-MED Green Living Areas, Sustainable Tourism. #REVIVE partners in Mallorca attended the event "I workday on local products and tourism" arranged on 21st of November 2024 on behalf of the five main producers of the island together with the Hotel Business Federation of Mallorca. The event aimed to bring together producers from Mallorca with the hotel sector to promote the use of local products. The increase of local products consumption has to be understood not only as way of providing quality and more sustainable food, but also taking into consideration its role in preserving the landscape and as a key element in the revitalization of the economy of the primary sector. Cámara de Comercio de Mallorca and Govern de les Illes Balears (AETIB) participates in the #REVIVE project in the Pla de Mallorca where the issue of promoting local products in tourist establishments is a central element of the project. Events such as today's showcase the need and the willingness to work on these issues. #Community4Innovation #InterregEuroMED #Revive #sustainableecomony #circulareconomy #smart #green #ruralareas #Mediterranean 💙

We had a wonderful experience with the #REVIVE project in #Slovenia! Apart from our official meeting and agreement on the next steps we experienced some wonderful places that emphasize tradition and heritage! Visiting family-run businesses and learning about traditional crafts have given a deep insight into Slovenian culture. Here are some highlights from the visit 👉 🔹Kocbek oil mill -third generation of family business, producers of the highest quality pumpkin hot pressing oil – traditional production process and cold-pressing. 🔹Beekeeping and Herbs Kolarič - The Kolarič family preserves folk heritage, preserves old seeds, takes care of bees and conducts workshops on the knowledge of herbs and herbal preparation 🔹Gostilna Pri Cesarski Lipi, Jarenina -rural household. Thank you our host e-ZAVOD for good organization! 😊 #Community4Innovation #InterregEuroMED #Revive #sustainableecomony #circulareconomy #smart #green #ruralareas #Mediterranean

Larnaca & Famagusta Districts Development Agency (ANETEL) and #REVIVE at the Renaissance Fair 2024 at Pyrga #Cyprus On Saturday, October 19, the Larnaca district’s Pyrga village took as to a journey back in time, with music, dance, historical reenactments, games, activities and workshops for the whole family! This year, the Renaissance Fair colourfully proclaims and celebrates the love of the Cypriot farmer for his land, turning its focus towards the sowing season, the re-birth of the land and the accompanying societal ‘cultivation and coexistence’. Visitors were welcome to partake in traditional games, try their luck at medieval archery, enjoy horse rides through the village and visit the outdoor market stalls that are full to the brim with local products, handicrafts and Cypriot food for all tastes. #Community4Innovation #InterregEuroMED #Revive #sustainableecomony #circulareconomy #smart #green #ruralareas #Mediterranean 💙

#REVIVE Promotes Cooperation and Friendship The City of Buzet (Croatia) and the Municipality of Kriva Palanka (Republic of North Macedonia) are stakeholders in the #REVIVE project's pilot areas, where innovative business models are planned to be implemented. Their first contact was established during a project meeting on the island of Leros in Greece, attended by representatives from Buzet, as well as from Kriva Palanka. Recognizing mutual similarities and interests resulted in the signing of an initiative to establish cooperation and friendship between these two local government units. Their collaboration will be based on the preparation and implementation of projects funded by #EuropeanUnion funds and other sources, particularly in the areas of the environment, sports and youth, economic, social, educational, cultural, communal, and humanitarian activities. In the initial phase, the partnership will focus on gastronomy and tourism, and the first planned steps are the creation of a joint project. This initiative demonstrates how #REVIVE connects rural communities, fostering friendship and collaboration with the goal of their further progress.👏 More information can be found at the following links👉 https://lnkd.in/dJy_C9Zh https://lnkd.in/dVax7f8V #Community4Innovation #InterregEuroMED #Revive #sustainableecomony #circulareconomy #smart #green #ruralareas #Mediterranean
