CEO at REVOLT. Building the world’s most powerful Black storytelling engine on the planet. Powered by creators.
In 2023, REVOLT quietly acquired Rap-Up, a cross-cultural, female-skewing platform anchored in hip-hop journalism. Fast forward to today, and Rap-Up is a dominant voice in the culture. How dominant? One of our latest TikTok posts just became one of the highest-performing posts EVER by a hip-hop publication. So yes, the world is shifting, and the game is changing all around us. But make no mistake—we’re playing offense. We’ve been playing offense. And we are well positioned to win. More to come…

CEO at REVOLT. Building the world’s most powerful Black storytelling engine on the planet. Powered by creators.
Over the last few months, we’ve gotten a lot of questions about whether REVOLT still has “it” now that we have new owners (our employees!). Some folks have assumed the brand might be fading or that it would never be the same. But as I often say, “In God we trust; everyone else, bring your data.” Here’s ours: ! Our audience still believes in our mission and is excited about the brand partnerships we have on the horizon. Note: We just need brands to keep investing and stop pretending like investing in Black-owned media for two years was enough. ! Most of our audience was not here because of who originally owned & founded the company ! Social engagement across channels like TikTok and Instagram is up. The REVOLT brand is strong. Our employees are the largest shareholder group. Our audience never left us and is excited about our future together. The team at REVOLT pulled off the impossible. I couldn’t be more proud. 💪🏾 Research courtesy of our REVOLT Insights team (led by Lynzie Riebling) part of our internal branded content agency, #000000.

A word from our CEO Detavio Samuels 👇🏾
CEO at REVOLT. Building the world’s most powerful Black storytelling engine on the planet. Powered by creators.
Because we were quieter than usual in the first part of the year, some people thought we lost our magic. But, like a slingshot, sometimes you have to pull back to launch forward. Since June, REVOLT has been executing our 2024 playbook, which has included: announcing the company is now employee and Black-owned, welcoming Pinky Cole as our first-ever Creator in Residence, launching our summer class of new podcasters, kicking off major branded content partnerships with powerhouses like Walmart and, as of last week, bringing back the culture’s favorite show, “Caresha Please,” which has reclaimed its #1 spot (2M+ views in 72 hours, trended #1 on Twitter, YouTube, and Apple Podcasts—Music). We didn’t lose our magic—we were stacking it up so we could unleash it all at once. The magic is stronger than ever—and we’re just getting started. #REVOLT #BlackExcellence #REVOLTWorldLoading #TheNewEraOfEntertainment
