Now that the mourning period is over, I wanted to share our thoughts on why Forward Health failed. The company’s founder once said that he wanted to replace doctors and nurses with “hardware and software” and the patients rejected it completely. Their fatal error was in the fundamental assumption behind their business model: that people could be taken out of the equation in healthcare. Our full thoughts in the comments.

The National Alliance of Healthcare Purchaser Coalitions released their latest "Pulse of the Purchaser" survey last week, and the results are striking. About three-quarters (74%) of those surveyed saying they feel healthcare costs are driving trade-offs for wage or salary increases. However, the study showed that employers engaged in innovative strategies such as value-based drug formularies and contracting directly with providers saw lower than average healthcare costs.
