Dear College of Engineering Alumni, If you are in an undergraduate class of `90 or later, your input is important to help us understand how undergraduate experiences influence engineers’ career pathways. You could make a big difference by responding to this survey which the University of Rhode Island is jointly launching with Purdue University and the University of Cincinnati. You can earn $12 in the process! We are excited to invite you to participate in the Global Career Impact Survey (survey password is GCIS), a 25- to 30-minute online survey about your undergraduate experiences, current job tasks, and career path. This research study is supported by the National Science Foundation. The findings will help educators and companies revolutionize global learning experiences for engineering students and engineers. Very little research has been done on the career pathways of engineering students after they enter the workforce, and as a result, we are eager to learn from your personal experiences as a University of Rhode Island College of Engineering graduate. The survey is open and will stay open until December 16. https://lnkd.in/engs5Meu Survey password: GCIS

We are so happy with how #ACIEE2024 turned out and wanted to share with you some of our impressions and photos of the event, which took place November 7-8. This year marked the first time that the Annual Colloquium on International Engineering Education has been hosted at University of Rhode Island's Kingston Campus since its inception by URI German professor Dr. John Grandin 27 years ago and was also the first one that the IEP was able to host in person since 2018 - making this particular iteration of the conference a very special occasion to network and learn from others in the fields of engineering, languages, study abroad, intercultural competence and industry. Thank you to all of our attendees, presenters, moderators and keynote speakers (Samuel Mathey, Michael Nugent, PhD and Meghan Soens), who came to campus or Zoomed in from around the state, the country and the world, for participating in this unique forum of global engineering topics with us. We hope you enjoyed all that the conference had to offer this year: three very interesting keynotes, four specialized workshops/panels, 14 concurrent sessions with a total of 44 presentations on a variety of relevant themes, time to network with each other over lunches and coffee, tours of the URI campus and the Fascitelli Center for Advanced Engineering, the poster exhibition, a delicious dinner at Matunuck Oyster Bar and the optional tour of Newport! We would also like to thank each of our many campus partners who helped us to bring this event to life, Sigrid Berka and the ACIEE steering committee for its guidance, honored guests URI President Marc Parlange and Consul General Dr. Sonja Kreibich for their roles in our closing ceremony, and finally our sponsors DAAD German Academic Exchange Service, University of Rhode Island College of Engineering University of Rhode Island College of Arts and Sciences for their generous support. The next ACIEE will be held in 2025 by Texas A&M University. To learn more, go to https://lnkd.in/eDjQ4BYu. See you again next time!
