Product Spotlight: Ripley Tools US16 Max Drill Operated Jacket Removal Tool Originally invented by a Midwest lineman, the Ripley Tools (a Hubbell Incorporated brand) US16 Max incorporates a drill, coupled with ergonomic design, to make jacket removal efficient and reduce physical strain from this strenuous task. (Ripley Lab engineers worked closely with him to further refine the tool, ensuring that practical needs were placed at the heart of innovation.) Cable is guided through the tool using a bushing sized specific to each cable. A range of bushing sizes to accommodate the needs of different cables are available, with the correct bushings selected based on a utility’s cable sample, ensuring a precision fit. The US16 is especially useful for removing long lengths of JCN cable jacket, usually for terminator installation. Features include: • Jacket is cleanly removed to expose cable shielding. • Micro indexing blade depth control to protect cable shielding. • Self-feeding design to greatly reduce operator fatigue and strain. • Simple, safe blade depth adjustment. • Durable, reliable and built to last. • Ergonomic design prioritizes user comfort and safety.
