This month, RISE has been raising awareness and funds for breast cancer prevention, education, and free mammograms. Friday’s have been company-wide “Pink Outs” with team members showing their support. Additionally, RISE has partnered with two local organizations, GET A MAMMY INC and Pink Ribbon Jax, and has been raising money for these impactful groups through a month-long raffle. Jeremy Doss, RISE Senior Vice President of Development, will be joining two panels this week at the 2024 P3 Higher Education Summit being held in Washington, DC. As higher education institutions face challenges in finding ways to upgrade existing facilities and deliver major new expansions, many are looking at P3s and alternative delivery models as an opportunity to facilitate growth; and the P3 Higher Education Summit hosts university administrations and industry experts from around the country to tackle these challenges head on. Jeremy will be presenting alongside colleagues on Tuesday, Oct 8 on two topics: “Pioneering the P3 Approach in TN: How the University of Tennessee Leveraged the Private Market to Add 3,000 Fully Self-Supporting Beds to Campus in Three Years” and a follow-up panel, “How to Generate Interest and Value Through Procurement.” A brief synopsis of “Pioneering the P3 Approach in Tennessee:” “As a University on the RISE, the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK) proactively entered into the state’s first Public-Private Partnership (P3) to address its growing on-campus student housing needs. This initiative was driven by unprecedented growth in enrollment and retention rates. The fast-paced process of concurrently deploying a multitude of development activities along a record-setting timeline will culminate in the delivery of 3,000 self-supporting beds within three years. Through this partnership, the UT System and UTK have set a P3 roadmap for future projects across the state of Tennessee. This distinguished panel discusses how this pioneering effort underscores UTK’s commitment of supporting the Volunteer Experience by providing top-tier facilities for its students while setting a benchmark for future public-private collaborations in higher education.” A brief synopsis of “How to Generate Interest and Value Through Procurement:” “Procurement processes seek to maximize market interest from industry experts and secure competitive engagement terms that will serve as the foundation for productive partnerships. The approach to solicit market interest varies significantly and these differences have a direct impact on private market interest, the accuracy of proposals, and competitiveness of key terms. On Monday, the RISE development team, joined by partners from Michigan Technological University, Niles Bolton Associates, and Walbridge, celebrated a major milestone at our Public-Private Partnership (P3) on-campus student housing development in Houghton, MI this week.  Lunch for all the workers and subcontractors was provided by RISE during a ceremony to recognize reaching the 50% completion point of this exciting project. This project is the culmination of a highly collaborative process between Michigan Technological University and RISE that commenced in March 2023 following a nationally competitive procurement process. Following a fast-track development, design and financing process, the new community broke ground in October 2023 and will be completed in advance of the Fall 2025 semester. With a focus on modern and sustainable features, the design and architecture of the new community features a vibrant and eco-friendly living space. Today, Sept 18, marks exactly 9 months since RISE broke ground on our Public-Private Partnership (P3) development with the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and we are proud to see the progress which includes a 788-bed, fully enclosed facility. The record pace of this project began with a groundbreaking following the State Building Commission’s final approval of the project on 12/14/23 and in advance of the project’s 1/24/24 financial closing. Jeremy Doss, RISE Senior VP of Development, shared, “It is truly amazing what this team has been able to accomplish since being awarded this P3 by the UT System and UTK on April 1 of last year. Not only did we break ground in less than nine months from the project award, [on December 18th], but today marks exactly nine months of construction, and we now have a 788-bed, seven-story, Type II facility fully enclosed! “We knew this would be a record-setting pace for the industry, but it's remarkable to witness these unparalleled milestones being achieved along the way. Last week, RISE was honored to be represented at Bisnow’s Jacksonville Construction & Development event by Matthew Marshall (Senior VP of Development) and Louis Fegan (VP of Construction).
