We wrapped up our final Journal Club of the semester with two fantastic presentations! We had the privilege of hearing from Dr. Matt Compton and Dr. Kurt Hegmann, who each presented thought-provoking papers that sparked some great discussions. Dr. Compton shared eye-opening research on the overlooked dangers of driving under the influence, highlighting how even small impairments can have major consequences on road safety. Meanwhile, Dr. Hegmann explored the impact of climate change, while also emphasizing the importance of following the facts and remaining unbiased when presenting research data. His insights reminded us of the critical role objectivity plays in communicating scientific findings. A big thank you to both presenters for their insightful contributions, and to everyone who attended for making this a truly engaging event. We can’t wait to continue these important conversations in 2025! #RMCOEH #JournalClub

As temperatures drop, workers exposed to cold weather face an increased risk of cold stress. This is especially true for those working outdoors, such as construction crews, snow removal teams, firefighters, and law enforcement officers. Wet clothing, improper dress, exhaustion, and certain health conditions like diabetes and hypertension can all heighten the danger. It’s crucial for workers to stay dry, dress in layers, and take regular breaks in warm environments to reduce the risk of cold stress. Stay aware, stay safe, and take the necessary precautions to protect yourself and your team this winter. #ColdStress #WorkplaceSafety #RMCOEH
