A Moment with J&J Chairman & CEO We have some wonderful news to share with everyone! As a Rutgers Road to Supply Chain Leadership program member and a current Co-op in Inter Regional Transportation Excellence (IRTE) group at Johnson & Johnson, Allan Peprah never imagined he’d get the chance to meet the J&J Chairman & CEO Joaquin Duato in such a casual setting. During just another lunch break in the cafeteria at the Johnson & Johnson headquarters in New Brunswick, Allan noticed Mr. Duato engaged in conversation with another colleague over lunch. As the CEO started to exit, Allan took the opportunity to introduce himself. Mr. Duato greeted him and asked about his role at the company. He then mentioned that he was quite happy that Allan had come over to introduce himself and speak with him. Afterward, Allan shared with everyone that it was a magical moment for him and it showed how “the J&J CEO values every person in his company, all the way down to the Co-ops and interns.”

On October 11th, Rutgers Road to Supply Chain Leadership Program welcomed Professor Warren Powell for a lecture on a different method of approaching decision-making! Professor Powell discussed his universal framework for sequential decision problems and his new universal problem-solving approach. His core theme was that we need people who can answer three key questions: what are the metrics, what types of decisions need to be made and what are the sources of uncertainty. He demonstrated his approach with a number of common problems being solved in business every day. His provocative yet, insightful, presentation was greatly appreciated by the students. Thank you, Professor Powell, for joining us and sharing your knowledge with us!
