  • Imagine a CEO, a merchandiser, and an analyst all looking at the same report, but coming to completely different conclusions. That's the danger of siloed data in retail and the proliferation of excel to perform data combinations (i.e. VLookups). Every retailer wants their teams to be data-driven, but how is it that everyone is seeing something different? It leads to disagreements, undermines confidence in the numbers, and causes paralysis. That’s why self-service analytics should be available to everyone in the organization. A single, unified view of the business that can be easily accessed by anyone in the organization. That’s how you build a culture of trust, transparency, and confident decision-making. —----- P.S. Want to see the art of the possible with Robling? • Foot traffic: the lifeblood of brick-and-mortar retail. But it's more than just a number for retail COOs. It's understanding: • How to optimize store layouts • How to read customer behavior • How to maximize conversion opportunities For years, I relied on basic metrics like door counters and sales per square foot. The insights were limited and in some cases innacurate because of the manual nature of data collection, leaving me with more questions than answers. Then, I figured out how to integrate foot traffic data with merchandising systems like Oracle and Aptos, along with customer data. Once Robling collects all the data, it allows COOs to make critical business decisions. Here's the framework: 1. Capture foot traffic data: Notice patterns by time of day, day of week, and, if possible, location within the store. 2. Connect foot traffic to sales: Understand how traffic translates to conversions. 3. Segment customers based on behavior: Tailor marketing and promotions to specific customer groups based on their in-store journey. 4. Optimize store layouts: Identify high-traffic areas and position stock to increase sales married with customer profiles. There is an art to understanding foot traffic. But it all starts with understanding the data.
