  • Uncovering the root causes of health issues through data: 🌱 These findings represent the preliminary results from the first two months of our Access Membership and our Root Cause Lab Panel. Almost every Access Member starts here, receiving actionable insights with written comments from Root doctors and dietitians on their results. Here's what we're seeing so far: 🥗 Insulin resistance: Found in ~50%, often silent but a key driver of long-term health risks. 🔥 High inflammation: Present in ~30%, highlighting the hidden stressors in our bodies. 🦋 Thyroid function issues: Found in ~25%, ranging from suboptimal conversion to thyroid antibodies. 🥕 Nutrient deficiencies: A staggering 99%+ have at least one deficiency, with vitamin D, Omega-3, B12, and zinc being the most common. These labs are uncovering the silent imbalances often not tested in conventional care, and we’re proud to provide clarity and action steps to reverse them. It’s not just about lab results—it’s about empowering people with the knowledge and tools to feel their best. 💚 Learn more about the Root Cause Panel here: https://lnkd.in/gH3mKk9V

  • At Root, our member stories have been the best part of 2024. Our mission has always been to reverse disease, not just manage it—and that requires a fundamentally different approach to care. From reversing autoimmune conditions to improving metabolic health and hormone balance, the stories of resilience, determination, and healing have been nothing short of inspiring. We’ve seen these results from both individual members and employer-sponsored members. By partnering directly with employers, we’re able to bring personalized care to more people than ever before, creating a healthier and more empowered workforce, while drastically reducing medication and healthcare costs. If you’re curious about how our model works or want to see the impact of reversing disease in action, check out our latest article highlighting just a few of these case studies here: https://lnkd.in/gHPcniM6

  • Healthy Gut = Healthy Immune System None of us want to be missing work or family gatherings this time of year due to illness. Here are some things you can do daily to support a healthy gut: 🪴 Fiber: 30-35 grams of fiber per day (slowly work up to this goal). Your gut is a muscle, and you have to train it like any other muscle. 🌈 Phytonutrients: Eat a variety of plants & colors. Different colors = different nutrients. Think "eat the rainbow." 🧘♀️ Mindful Eating: Eat slowly. Chew well. This helps with the digestion and absorption of nutrients. 🚰 Hydration: When the weather is cooler, we have to be more intentional about fluid intake.. 💚 Supplement appropriately: Nutrients like L-glutamine, zinc carnosine, DGL, and aloe can help soothe & repair the intestinal lining. If you want to take things to the next level, have your gut microbiome tested and make targeted changes based on those results. The GI-MAP™ test is now available for self-ordering within the Root Access membership & results include insights from Root doctors. • ✨ It’s All Connected✨ Throw back to one of the first graphics we created at Root 🌱 One of our biggest differentiators is that in functional medicine, we see the body as a connected system—not a collection of isolated parts. For example, if we were digging for root causes of female hormone imbalance we would consider the following: 👉 Your thyroid and adrenal glands impact other hormones. 👉 Gut inflammation affects estrogen metabolism. 👉 The liver plays a key role in detoxifying estrogen. 👉 Insulin sensitivity influences hormone transport. Nutrition, lifestyle, sleep, stress, environment, and genetics all contribute to hormone health. Functional medicine doctors and dietitians can connect these dots to create a comprehensive plan that addresses the root causes of health issues. This approach is quite different from the conventional model, which often focuses on symptoms in isolation. Have you noticed a difference in how functional medicine addresses health compared to conventional medicine? We’d love to hear your experiences—share in the comments below 👇

  • Stress + weather changing 🌬 + time change/sleep disruption 🌙 = many people experiencing migraine flairs now. Functional medicine offers targeted root cause solutions: Balance your Blood Sugar: Follow the Root Plate Method for balanced protein, healthy fat, and fiber. Anti-Inflammatory Foods: A diet rich in antioxidants (think eat the rainbow 🌈 ) supports brain health and reduces inflammation. Targeted Supplements: Magnesium, CoQ10, and Omega-3s have been shown to lessen migraine frequency and severity. B-Vitamins: Riboflavin (B2) and other B-vitamins can help prevent migraines when used consistently. Sleep Hygiene: Quality sleep reduces migraines; magnesium before bed and screen-free routines can improve sleep quality. Trigger Awareness: Identifying food triggers (like caffeine, aged cheese, and red wine) through a migraine diary can be game-changing. Read more in our article here: https://lnkd.in/gfSwcDEC
