Ready for another exciting Living Seas construction update?! We recently welcomed several stunning new habitats – including a new Octopus Grotto, Pier Piling, Coral and Mangrove habitats – and moved them into place in the aquarium! Moving these massive tanks was no small feat! The process required temporarily removing the Galleria’s front windows, unloading the habitats from a truck with a forklift and even using a crane to lift the largest habitats over our main gate carefully. Once inside, they were expertly maneuvered into their final spots in the future Living Seas space. Stay tuned for more updates as Living Seas continues to take shape! This exciting new exhibition is set to open summer 2025.

Clear skies after a recent storm provided the perfect backdrop for new photos of our Folsom Medical Care Clinic, courtesy of Victor Baquero! In September 2024, we celebrated a turning point in constructing the Folsom Medical Care Clinic with a close-in ceremony and sign unveiling. This marked the completion of the building’s weather barrier and exterior skin – just in time for Sacramento’s rainy season. Much work has since shifted to focus on the interior of the building, including the installation of drywall, paint, and medical equipment. The state-of-the-art building is a beacon right off Highway 50, and East Bidwell St. The three-story, 114,000-square-foot care clinic is the first of several projects planned for the 34-acre Folsom Center for Health site. In addition to consolidating three existing leased Folsom clinics, the care clinic will house our only extension of radiology and infusion services, aside from the Placer Center for Health in Rocklin. The Folsom Medical Care Clinic is scheduled to open in fall 2025.

  • Last week, we celebrated the grand opening of the City College of San Francisco’s groundbreaking STEAM Building with our trusted partners: SmithGroup, Kitchell, Rutherford + Chekene, Creo Landscape Architecture, and Kuth Ranieri Architects. This project marks a significant achievement in creating a space that inspires creativity and collaboration in higher education. Designed to bring art, science, and technology together, the STEAM Building will foster innovation and exploration for years to come. Reflecting on the project and the team’s commitment to quality, our President and CEO, Jon Foad, shared: “Quality is another core value of ours, and if you look around, you’ll see we all hit the mark here. It’s not just the builder; it’s the designer and everyone involved in the project and we all brought that level of quality here.” At Rudolph and Sletten, we’re honored to have been part of this effort to build a space that truly reflects the excellence and dedication of the entire team.

Exciting news! Yesterday, Kaiser Permanente Northern California officially broke ground on a new state-of-the-art hospital in San Jose, aimed at providing the community with expanded access to both primary and specialty care services. This will be one of California's first all-electric hospitals, featuring environmentally friendly elements such as solar panels, electric vehicle charging stations, drought-tolerant landscaping, and low-emitting materials to enhance indoor air quality. The new hospital is planned to open in the fall of 2029 to serve over 200,000 Kaiser Permanente Northern California patients and members from the San Jose, Gilroy, Santa Cruz, and surrounding communities. With 300 private patient rooms, cutting-edge technology, pedestrian and bike-friendly pathways, a healing garden, and outdoor seating and dining areas, the new hospital will provide exceptional care along with wonderful amenities for our patients, members, and their families. Enjoying a sneak peek at the almost complete City College of San Francisco STEAM Building. The building celebrates the architectural nook and cranny - inside and out. Inside provides for varied moments for spontaneous interaction for the mixing of art and science. Outside creates a textured façade that evolves over the course of the day as shadows move across its surface.   A great SmithGroup collaboration with Rudolph and Sletten, City College of San Francisco, Creo Landscape Architecture and Kuth Ranieri Architects. #SmithGroup, #DesignaBetterFuture
