Crafted in the Maine Tradition

About us

Sabre Yachts - manufacturers of semi-custom downeast motoryachts and sailing yachts, crafted in Maine since 1970. The Sabre Yachts lineup consists of six models, all with vee-hull designs and semi-custom stick-built interiors, and are available in Salon Express and Fly Bridge designs. Our award-winning yachts set the standard for nautical sensibility, traditional quality, and owner operation. Expertly designed for the experienced boater, Sabre offers industry-leading reliability and highly sophisticated control, coupled with classic lines and iconic woodworking, ensuring that our yachts make a statement in any harbor. For more than 45 years Sabre yachts have been manufactured in the towns of Raymond and Rockland, Maine, by 200+ crafts-people. The Sabre team proudly represents the state's centuries-old shipbuilding heritage, continuing traditions and applying cultural knowledge that have been passed down since the original Popham Colony was founded in 1607. Our crafts-people are the 'secret ingredient' to Sabre's success, and their talent and dedication result in the highest quality downeast style motoryachts on the market today. Sabre Yachts have been "Crafted in the Maine Tradition" since 1970 when the company’s founder, Roger Hewson, set out to build the finest possible 28-foot sailing yacht, using production-line methods and fiberglass technology. In 1989 Sabre created our first motoryacht, the Sabre 36 “Fast Trawler,” and with that first success began our rapid rise to the top of the power market. Today, our six power models consist of Salon Express and Fly Bridge styles, range from 38 to 58 feet in length, and offering cruise speeds of 25 knots and top end speeds in excess of 30 knots.

Updates

  • We’re thrilled to share that the hull mold for the highly anticipated Sabre 51 Salon Express has officially arrived at our Rockland factory. This marks a major step forward in the creation of our newest model, which embodies Sabre Yachts’ tradition of exceptional craftsmanship and innovation. In the coming weeks, our talented team will begin the next phase—spraying the fiberglass and preparing to pop the hull from the mold. From there, this vessel will be transported to our historic Building 3 in Raymond, Maine, where it will come to life as the newest addition to our fleet. The 51SE represents the perfect blend of timeless design and modern performance, and we can’t wait to share more of its journey with you. Stay tuned for updates as we continue to bring this incredible yacht to life.

  • We recently received this amazing testimonial from one of our customers in Victoria, Australia. The process of finally getting your first Sabre is a memorable one. "Dear Sabre Team, I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to take a moment to express our gratitude and share a bit of our journey with NAVY ROSE. Our story began over ten years ago when I first fell in love with the Back Cove range. I vividly remember visiting Jed in Sydney and having a quick onboard experience at the marina. Unfortunately, at that time, a Back Cove was just out of my price range. However, I always kept an eye on both the Back Cove and Sabre brands. During those years, I purchased a different boat in Turkey and enjoyed some wonderful boating experiences, but my heart always longed for something more — a boat with higher specifications, timeless elegance, and superior quality. My thoughts kept coming back to your brands, and finally, I managed to convince my wife, Caz, to take a trip to Sydney to get a closer look. With Jed’s encouragement, we discovered the stunning new Sabre Express 43, and the rest, as they say, is history. Despite a few delays and holdups, we are absolutely thrilled with NAVY ROSE. The journey from delivery to Melbourne was incredible, and we couldn’t be happier with our decision. Please enjoy the attached photos of her. Like any new vessel, I’m sure we’ll face some teething issues, but I have full confidence in the Sabre Team to support us along the way. The build quality is truly impeccable, and we are sincerely grateful to you and your team for crafting such a beautiful, timeless yacht. I suppose you could say I’m now an unofficial Sabre representative in Victoria! 😜 Thank you again for everything, and we look forward to sharing our experiences with you as we continue our journey with NAVY ROSE. Warm regards, Philip"
