"My name is Nyesha W., and I want to tell you about my story on what brought Safe Families to me. I’m from Memphis, Tennessee, and I decided to move to Wisconsin with my ex baby father. I thought that it was a good idea, which it wasn’t, but then again, I’m glad I did. I moved into my ex's apartment and ever since then things were going downhill. He treated me like I was worth nothing I was pregnant and also had a 1 year old at the moment. He kicked us out and had us living with strangers and made me walk the streets, and also I was in and out of the emergency room almost everyday! It was an irrational. So one day things got real bad and I ended up in the hospital because I was pregnant and hurting from the stress. As I was in the hospital I had nobody at all the doctors in a nurse seen what I was going through so they came to me and asked me, “Have I heard about Safe Families?” Of course I said no, but that I would like to learn more about it. They gave me the number to call and once I called I explained everything what was going on. I did not have to explain much, they came right away. They made it feel like an actual family. I’m still in contact with Safe Families mostly every other day, or sometimes every day. They still welcome me with gifts on holidays or even sometimes randomly they always congratulate me when I accomplish something and take me out for dinner or lunch or breakfast. They’re always there when something goes wrong and they always make it right. Having these relationships with my friends, have put a good impact in my life By helping me become the woman, I am today not just the woman I am today, but also the mother I have become. Safe families is a lifesaver and I am so blessed to have safe families in my life. I refer anybody to go to safe families, especially us single mothers. I am proud of myself for becoming the woman I have became. I have great support great motivation and I reach all my goals ! Thank you to Safe Families. I really appreciate you guys so much and thank you for everything you have done for me and my Children, God bless. Remember, you can do anything you just have to put your mind to it."
