Meet the team - Samantha Dellamarta! Sam is an experienced safeguarding specialist with a career history spanning two decades, including direct service delivery, policy, strategy, leadership and consulting roles across government, non-government and private sectors. Sam’s work focuses on organisational capacity building, including policy and resource development, system implementation, education and training development and delivery and strategy and advice. Sam brings a wealth of practice knowledge and experience in the prevention of institutional harm, prioritising the safety and wellbeing of children, young people and athletes across Australian sport. Additionally, Sam has also partnered with organisations in the early childhood, community and disability sectors, extending her safeguarding expertise and sound understanding of state and territory standards and legislation beyond sport. Sam holds qualifications in criminal justice, auditing, investigations, training and assessment, and has an IOC Safeguarding in Sport Certificate and a Certification in Dr Bruce Perry’s Neurosequential Model in Sport.

Her leadership extends across community development organisations, international development, humanitarian programs, schools, youth and early childhood development programs leaving a lasting impact in Australia, New Zealand and the Asia Pacific regions. Her experience is fortified by short and long-term international postings working across health, disaster preparedness, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) and safeguarding for both children and adults. As an expert in safeguarding, Donna demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of both Australian and international standards, including those of multilateral and donor governments. Safeguarding Training Australia is super excited to partner with Safeguarding Central and offer a Child Safeguarding Focal Point Training course for those in non-government organisations working in the international development sector. If you want to better understand how to implement child safe standards, this is the course for you! This foundational level course will provide an understanding of key responsibilities and practice examples of global standards, including incorporating the minimum standards from the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs Child Protection Policy.
