All life depends on food. All life becomes food. Food is medicine. Vitality. Connection. Celebration. Communion. Yet, modern agriculture, in the global North, has inarguably damaged the ecology. A cascade effect from post-industrialization societies have caused damage unseen to the immediate eye: drought, arid land, and resource-driven migration. What role does food play in our global solutions? Join us online! https://lnkd.in/e59hrug8

Yoga and Ayurveda address mental health in compatible, yet distinct, ways. Understanding the root perspectives on our mental well-being can help us to understand why certain recommendations are made by our teachers or vaidyas. If we don't understand the foundational view of these traditions, we're less likely to incorporate the suggestions that could actually be profoundly helpful to us. The transformation available through yoga and Ayurveda will not be limited to our pursuit of mental health, nor physical health. These traditions become life-transformations in myriad positive ways. Please join us for the Dharma Study Group to learn more! https://lnkd.in/eAYpStfE

There inevetibly times in life when we have a weaving together of various aspects of who we are and where we have been. There are also times in life where it feels like things are unraveling. Yoga invites the full spectrum of who we are to come to the mat of the cushion. Ultimately, we're likely to discover that we are not as lost as we might feel and that we're so much more than we imagined ourselves to be. I hope you can experience this liberating and nourishing practice! Please join me on retreat at Breitenbush! Link to register: https://lnkd.in/eejH3ajp #JoinUs #BreitenbushRetreat #SarahjoyYoga

The philosophy of yoga is inherently life-giving. I have a genuine enthusiasm for conveying its powerful teachings in relatable ways. Nothing should go over your head, but rather it ought to land in your heart. Please join me for the 28th annual Adult Yoga Summer Camp! We'll explore the philosophy as well as the physiologies of yoga that help us to truly feel centered and vital. Link to register: https://lnkd.in/eejH3ajp

Create caption: Being brave in the face of despairing circumstances isn't a matter of just digging deeper into your personal resilience reservoir. Bravery is our courageous and willing effort to tend to our shadow - the shadow side of human nature, to which we are all susceptible. Even if our shadow is to a much smaller degree than those whose actions are explicitly causing damage and who seem to have no regard for their actions, tending to it enables us to be in integrity, to navigate our internal ethics, and to then be with others in responsible, vulnerable and pro-active ways. Yoga Psychology Training teaches mental health therapists not only the somatically healing practices of yoga, such as asana, pranayama, and chanting, but also the underlying depth of yoga’s philosophy as a pathway to Mental Health. This training is a portion of our 800hr IAYT Yoga Therapy Training. It is also a course available to mental health providers, life coaches, and others who want to have deeper understanding of yoga’s role in mental health. This training includes curriculum from yoga as well as Western mental health modes such as polyvagal theory, trauma-informed principles and attachment theory. This training is led by Sarahjoy Marsh who has over 28 years of experience in yoga and mental health. Alongside of her facilitation, we also have highly trained ambassadors and mentors. Cohorts are kept to a small enough size that all students receive individual support and mentoring. You can learn more here: https://lnkd.in/eZGYJcNz

We all come to yoga for different reasons. Inevitably, our practice evolves, changes, and shapes us through the seasons of our lives. I've never understood traditions where there is always only one sequence to "accomplish". Yoga is meant to be tailored to the individual's, including their life stage, depth of understanding, and where they are on the mountain path. To be with students on retreat really allows me to see them more fully and, with that, to tune into where their journey has taken them and where it can lead them now. Join me for the upcoming retreat. I'd love to help you with your personal journey in yoga. The retreat will sell out, so please register early. (We don’t want you to be disappointed.)
