The client requested an animated video to showcase the functionality and benefits of their new product, while also providing background on the scientific process of transfection. Their goal was to make the content accessible to a broader audience while ensuring the key scientific and product messages were communicated clearly. We produced a whiteboard animation that effectively illustrated the story of Thermo Fisher Scientific's Neon NxT Electroporation System. This followed the live-action component we created last year, and now, the animated video is ready for the world. You can watch the video below! We're honored to have won our second American Advertising Federation Award, this time for our Stop the Asian Hate PSA for the Oakland Chinatown Chamber of Commerce!
This year, I’m honored to be winning my second American Advertising Federation Award with Satellite Film and Video. The ADDYs are one of the most prestigious and well-established advertising awards, so receiving this recognition means a lot. I got the email and immediately felt a shot of pride. I don’t yet know whether we’ve won bronze, silver, or gold—or if we’ll advance to the National level. But just knowing our work was recognized is deeply meaningful. What makes this especially significant is that the award is for our Stop the Asian Hate PSA, produced for Oakland Chinatown and the Oakland Chinatown Chamber of Commerce. Creating work that carries a positive message and has a real social impact is what drives me, so this acknowledgment is particularly rewarding. Thank you, ADDY Awards, for the recognition! Can’t wait to find out more. ________ I’m Kuang Lee 🎥 Founder of Satellite Film and Video: Films for Life-science and Medicine. "We Elevate the Complex" Learn more at: satellitefilms dot us

At Satellite, we love working with the museum and educational communities. Check out our director Kuang Lee's experience at the California Association of Museums conference last week:
Producing films for museums, creating artist documentaries—this is one of our favorite types of videos we create at Satellite. The ability to document the creative process and uplift and communicate beautiful art—we truly love making these types of films. So it was a lovely experience to go to the CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF MUSEUMS conference last Thursday in San Francisco. I learned a lot about what makes a museum run, and I really saw firsthand how passionate and smart the museum and educational community is. I hope we continue working with this community for years.

Check out our director's advice on how to elevate corporate interviews for wider audiences:
How to Add Passion and Life into your Corporate Interviews: Watching corporate marketing videos, my eyes gloss over when I watch interviews that go so deep into the weeds of product or technology. This type of interview goes over the heads of over 99% of the viewing audience. But yet, you need to market the product, so it’s imperative to talk to the science and technology experts, right? I have a secret question I always pull from my interview back pocket that adds life to corporate interviews. The key is tapping into their core passion and motivation. Before interviewing highly technical staff like scientists, inventors or engineers, I ask "What inspires you about your work?" This question awakens their enthusiasm for solving problems and changing the world. Their eyes light up as the human dimension emerges. An authentic display of passion elevates a dry, overly technical interview. The "what inspires you" response routinely becomes the centerpiece clip because it connects on a basic human level that resonates with viewers. People want to see real human emotion and purpose, not just clinical facts and figures. This passion is ignited in them, and it adds passion to a video interview. Nine times out of ten, that answer ends up in the final video, because it’s ultimately…human. Try it next time you have a talking head interview. Allow the subject's inspiration to shine through and breathe life into the content. Embrace a balance of technical details with inspirational storytelling to effectively market your products and experts. I’d love to hear your best practices when producing interview content. Leave them in the comments!

Check out our director's perspective on the benefits of work travel:
This week, I worked on a project in Mexico, and while the work itself was fun, the real gift was everything beyond the work. Sure, there are early flights and long days, but the trade-off is stepping into another culture. Traveling for work is more than just a change of scenery. It’s a way to see the world beyond the lens of your own city or country. It stretches you, challenges your assumptions, and expands your understanding of people. And with that, it brings something deeper: empathy. When you sit down with someone from a different culture, share a meal, hear their stories, you realize how much we all have in common. It makes you a better storyteller, a better listener, a better human. ________ I’m Kuang Lee 🎥 Founder of Satellite Film and Video: Films for Life-science and Medicine. Check out some of our tips for producing great product videos!
What are some tips to producing great product videos? Sharing a video I produced a few years back for Intuitive for their Table Motion platform. In this video, I made the strategic decision to feature the DaVinci surgical system prominently within the interview frame. While the system itself is quite sizable, this visual storytelling technique kept the product top-of-mind as the experts shared their insights, blending the narrative with the technology. We elevated the production value with smooth, cinematic dolly movements that added a touch of elegance to the product shots. Camera movement, when executed with subtlety and precision, can elevate a corporate story to new heights. Complemented by captivating motion graphics and a meticulously crafted sound design, this product film told a compelling, high-end story that did justice to the transformative nature of Intuitive's innovative product.

Check out this breakdown of one of our latest projects, and why a strong script is so important:
The Power of a Strong Video Script: Bringing Complex Stories to Life Every great video starts with a well-crafted script. Whether it's a cinematic narrative or a high-impact corporate film, the script serves as the foundation—guiding visuals, shaping the message, and ensuring clarity from concept to completion. Our recent project for is a prime example of how a strong script streamlines production and enhances storytelling. Given the complexity of battery technology, we needed a precise and engaging way to communicate the science behind energy storage while keeping the visuals compelling. Why the Script Matters: Clarity in Messaging – The script distills complex concepts into a structured narrative, ensuring that key messages—like the role of advanced batteries in clean energy—are delivered effectively. Seamless Visual Coordination – Every shot, from animated supply chain graphics to sweeping cityscapes, was mapped out in the script. This coordination ensured smooth transitions between live-action footage and motion graphics. Efficiency in Production & Animation – A detailed script minimizes ambiguity, giving animators and editors a clear roadmap. It eliminates guesswork, reduces revisions, and keeps projects on schedule. Brand Consistency – Maintaining a cohesive visual and narrative identity is essential. The script helped ensure that every frame aligned with their branding and messaging goals. By taking a script-first approach, we transformed technical information into a visually engaging story, guiding audiences through the battery industry. The result? A video that not only informs but inspires. Link to final video in the comments. ________ I’m Kuang Lee 🎥 Founder of Satellite Film and Video: Films for Life-science and Medicine. Check out a re-introduction from our director, Kuang Lee, for those who are new to our company!
I have some new followers here, so I'm excited to reintroduce myself. I'm Kuang Lee, a passionate filmmaker and agency owner with a rich history in the creative industry. My journey has taken me from writing for network TV shows and directing feature films to producing award-winning B2B films for Fortune 100 companies. I run Satellite Film and Video, a video and animation agency based in both the Bay Area and LA. We specialize in telling stories about technology and life-science. We have even won a few advertising awards along the way. I’ve lead hundreds of projects that have spanned live action campaigns to intricate animations to broadcast documentaries. What truly drives me is storytelling – crafting narratives that resonate and captivate. I’m a proud dad to a eight-year-old daughter, and in my free time, I like to make music and write books. (I just wrote a children’s book that was #1 in its category on Amazon.) Check out one of the broadcast PSAs we made last year for the Oakland Chinatown Chamber of Commerce:
Tackling hate crimes against the Asian community through visual storytelling – that's the driving force behind our collaboration with the Oakland Chinatown Chamber of Commerce. Last year, Satellite Film and Video produced a series of broadcast PSAs, amplifying the message of unity within the East Bay Community. I'm so impressed by the resilience, pride, and capability our community exudes in the face of adversity. Seeing elders, youth, and professionals coming together is a powerful testament to the strength of our Asian-American community within in the Bay Area. Watching these videos makes me grateful to have been a part of this incredibly important project and extend my sincere thanks to the Oakland Chinatown Chamber of Commerce team, including Francis Lam, Jessica Chen, Alice Wu and others, for entrusting us with this opportunity to make a tangible difference.
