Nine months ago, we faced a hard truth at Scale Social AI. We realized that if we kept going the way we were—relying on AI-generated images and text—we’d hit a dead end. It wasn’t because the tech wasn’t cool or effective. It was because we knew a day like this would come. Meta recently announced their AI generation feature, fully integrated into their ad platform. The kind of feature that makes it so simple and seamless that businesses won’t think twice before using it. And honestly? If we hadn’t pivoted, this could’ve been the moment our startup became irrelevant. But here’s the thing: we saw this coming. And instead of chasing what was easy, we asked ourselves: What do businesses really need? The answer wasn’t more AI-generated content. It was authenticity. Because businesses don’t thrive on perfectly polished, computer-generated text or visuals. They thrive on trust. And trust comes from something real—real stories, real people, real connections. So, we made the hard choice to pivot. We shifted our entire focus to helping businesses scale authentic content from their customers. Not manufactured. Not scripted. Just real. Looking back, that decision could’ve been the end of us. But it turned out to be the beginning of something better. Sometimes, the best ideas start with just two simple words: “What if…” 🌟 This week, I had the privilege of joining a prospective client at Cosmoprof North America—the leading B2B beauty tradeshow—in Miami. My role? Go “undercover” as part of their team, working the floor just like back in my old business development days. Truly immerse myself in their world. For context, this prospective client is a trailblazer in their field, with a blockbuster product tackling one of the most personal challenges: hair loss. (Let’s just say this one hits close to home for me. 😉) Those two words—“What if…”—set everything into motion. 👉 “What if” led to a meeting with the founder of a publicly listed company. 👉 “What if” brought us to Miami. 👉 “What if” turned into a formal request for proposal. Now, as I board my flight home, I’m reflecting on what happens when bold ideas meet bold execution.
