We’re sharing a little throwback from our curriculum night at Niner University Elementary in November. The goal of the event was to engage and empower families with information about their student’s curriculum. Teachers worked hard to provide hands-on activities around the curriculum that families could engage with, and there was also a resource fair to connect families with community organizations focused on needs we identified in our survey process earlier this year. A total of 70 people attended and over 90% of families reported the event enhanced their understanding of various academic expectations and increased their confidence in supporting their student at home. Thank you to DreamKey Partners, Charlotte Mecklenburg Library - West Blvd, Amay James Recreation Center, Arbor Glen Outreach Center, Ray’s Splash Planet, Stratford Richardson YMCA and Center 360 for being part of our resource fair! We had such a fun time! #education #familyengagement #community

Last week, our family empowerment associate Kimberly Perez celebrated one year with the SchermCo team! It seems like the perfect time to share one of our favorite blog posts she's written. Kim does a beautiful job reflecting on the vulnerability it takes to be a active community member, especially at the local school level. It's an honor to do this work and see these relationships form! https://lnkd.in/edFUhjhA #community #education #familyengagement
