In 2024, we all experienced inflation in different ways. Some felt it at the grocery store, others while traveling, or when dining out. But I would argue that the inflation story is mostly positive at this point. The overall trend is lower, which has made the Fed comfortable enough to begin lowering short-term interest rates. #SchulzFinancialGroup #Inflation

Can you believe we're less than 3 weeks away from ringing in the new year? 🎉 As we countdown to 2024, don't forget: some important deadlines are fast approaching! ⏳ Make sure you're ready to wrap things up! For Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs): The Internal Revenue Service allows individual retirement arrangement (IRA) owners age 70½ or over that they can transfer up to $100,000 to charity tax-free each year. For a married couple each spouse can exclude up to $100,000 for a total of up to $200,000 per year. These transfers, known as qualified charitable distributions or QCDs, offer eligible older Americans a great way to easily give to charity before the end of the year. And, for those who are at least 73 years old, QCDs count toward the IRA owner's required minimum distribution (RMD) for the year. The QCD option is available regardless of whether an eligible IRA owner itemizes deductions on Schedule A. Transferred amounts are not taxable, and no deduction is available for the transfer. Common mistakes we find: -The donor’s financial advisor or institution withholds taxes on the gift. This is not necessary if you are sending a check from your IRA to your qualified charity. The gift is not taxable when executed properly. -The donor’s accountant is unaware of the qualified charitable distribution and the donor winds up paying taxes. How does this happen? The 1099-R does not have a special code for a QCD, so it merely appears to be a taxable distribution. Please be sure to get a receipt from the charity and include a note to your accountant showing it is a qualified charitable distribution! #SchulzFinancialGroup #EndOfYear #Deadlines #QCD

Important updates about Medicare Part B premiums for next year: The standard monthly premium is increasing to $185.00, up $10.30 from 2024. Key changes to know: Monthly premium: $185.00 (up from $174.70) Annual deductible: $257 (up from $240) This change affects both automatic deductions and manual payments. It's worth noting that these adjustments reflect typical healthcare cost trends and usage patterns. Higher-income beneficiaries may see different premium amounts based on their specific situation. Remember: These changes take effect in January 2025. #MedicareCoverage #Retirement #HealthcareCosts #SeniorCare Source: https://lnkd.in/eBrsJzsu
