We’re excited to share that our founder, Brinleigh Murphy-Reuter, has been published in Harvard Public Health magazine Her op-ed, “Social Media is the New Public Health Frontline. Let’s Treat it That Way,” explores how social media creators are shaping public understanding in ways we can no longer ignore. In public health, where misinformation spreads quickly, creators need better tools and support to share accurate, evidence based messages that engage their audiences effectively. At Science to People, we believe creators are vital allies in the fight against misinformation. Tools like #VeriSci, our AI powered science communication platform, are designed to equip them with the resources they need to make a meaningful impact. We’re grateful to Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health for showcasing this critical conversation. Together, we can transform how science is communicated and ensure evidence based information reaches the people who need it most. Read the full op-ed here: https://lnkd.in/e3-pYC4Z We’d love to hear your thoughts—how can we further support creators on the public health frontline? #ScienceCommunication #PublicHealth #SocialImpact #Misinformation #AIforGood

Our founder and CEO, Brinleigh recently returned from a trip to India! Together with Rajeshwari, the S2P team had the opportunity to engage in productive conversations with leaders from KIMS Foundation And Research Centre and Apollo 24|7 Hospitals, as well as Dr. Reddy's Laboratories about how we can collaboratively bring #VeriSci to India. We’re excited about the potential for them to be founding partners in our innovative approach to public health communication and education. Additionally, we hosted a dinner for 10 of the most talented and passionate public health communicators and social media creators, building relationships and exploring ways we can work together to enhance public health education through innovative tools. A special thanks to Tech Mahindra for a productive discussion on together, our technological innovations can support informal education through social media. Looking forward to continued partnerships and making a significant impact in the year ahead!

Coming to you from India - we must respond to the news of the world this week: Meta’s big decision to remove fact-checkers. This opens the door for spreading unchecked health misinformation across platforms. We are exceptionally concerned about the implications of this policy change. This decision further highlights the urgency of our mission to launch VeriSci. We need your support to equip content creators with accurate, science-backed messages to combat this growing threat. Donate to help us forward our work at https://lnkd.in/eH4hyPzG #HealthMisinformation #VeriSci #Meta #TrustandSafety #SocialMedia #PublicHealth

Thanks to Shahid Azim of C10 Labs for sharing these insights about AI in healthcare. “With a deep system level convergence of AI and Health, the next five years will be more consequential for human well-being than the last 500 years. However, we must ensure these advancements are accessible—not just for the few.” We agree that AI, when deployed responsibily and thoughtfully, can act as meaningful leverage points in this system. We see #VeriSci as one such lever for change - making science accessible for everyone.
The U.S. healthcare landscape is undergoing a profound transformation, with spending projected to surpass $7 trillion by 2030, accounting for nearly 20% of the nation’s GDP. Key Drivers of Transformation 1. DEEP AI Integration: The U.S. AI healthcare market is expected to grow from $11.8 billion in 2023 to $102.2 billion by 2030 (36.1% CAGR). AI is transforming diagnostics, treatment personalization, and operational efficiencies, potentially saving $13 billion annually by 2025. 2. SHIFT to Value-Based Care: Focused on patient outcomes over service volume, the U.S. value-based care market is projected to grow from $4.01 trillion in 2024 at a 7.4% CAGR through 2030. 3. CONSUMERIZATION of Healthcare: Telemedicine adoption is forecasted to grow at a 32.1% CAGR through 2030, while the global wearable health devices market is expected to reach $195 billion. Patients increasingly demand accessible, tech-driven solutions. 4. Precision Medicine Breakthroughs: The AI precision medicine market is projected to hit $14.5 billion by 2030, enabling treatments tailored to genetic profiles. This personalized approach will redefine patient care. 5. Preventive and Holistic Health: Advanced diagnostics, like full-body MRI scans, enable early detection of conditions such as stage I cancer, improving prognoses and reducing costs. Wearables will help us lead longer, healthier lives, with Apple Health leading the charge. The Economic Impact of AI in Healthcare AI integration could contribute $1 trillion annually to U.S. GDP by 2030 through three key areas: 1. Reducing Administrative Waste: AI could save $200 billion annually by streamlining billing, claims, and scheduling. 2. Preventing Chronic Diseases: Predictive analytics and personalized care could recover $500 billion annually in productivity and healthcare savings. 3. Accelerating Drug Development: AI could cut drug discovery timelines by 50%, unlocking a $300 billion economic boost from faster innovation and increased revenues. Looking Back, Looking Forward In 2012, I was one of the pioneers and deep into the quantified self movement, inspired by the convergence of consumer and med-tech. It was early, but we were directionally 100% correct. By 2030, if we see AI fully integrated across healthcare—from discovery to delivery—transforming patient outcomes and experiences. This will mark a shift from “sick care” to true healthcare. With a deep system level convergence of AI and Health, the next five years will be more consequential for human well-being than the last 500 years. However, we must ensure these advancements are accessible—not just for the few. #Healthcare2030 #AIinHealthcare #ValueBasedCare #PrecisionMedicine #HealthTechInnovation

Our Founder & CEO, Brinleigh Murphy-Reuter had the opportunity to present our work at the Harvard Advanced Leadership Initiative’s end-of-year event Harvard Business School last week. Alongside our trusted advisor, Paul E. Kalb Brinleigh shared our mission, this year’s progress, and the support we need to scale our impact with an inspiring group of global leaders. Thank you to Paul for his invaluable mentorship and to Brian Trelstad for leading such an impactful initiative. We’re excited for what’s ahead!
On Friday, I had the incredible honor of speaking at the end-of-year Harvard Advanced Leadership Initiative event alongside Science to People’s trusted advisor, Paul E. Kalb. This gathering brought together an inspiring group of global third-chapter leaders, and it was a privilege to share the progress we’ve made at Science to People this year. I was able to highlight our mission, the impact we’re striving to create, and the critical support we need to identify funders who believe in advancing science communication as much as we do. A heartfelt thank you to Paul for his invaluable mentorship and guidance throughout this journey, as well as to Brian Trelstad, who leads ALI and was my Social Entrepreneurship professor at Harvard Business School. Brian has been a constant source of inspiration and leadership as I navigate the world of social enterprise. I left the event deeply energized by the thoughtful conversations and potential connections, and I’m excited for what lies ahead. Here’s to creating lasting impact together!

Thanks to our advisor Amanda Yarnell for sharing this piece from Nieman Journalism Lab and Marlon A. Walker - "these collaborations [WITH SOCIAL MEDIA CREATORS] offer a powerful way to amplify accurate information and combat misinformation." We couldn't agree more!
Senior director, Center for Health Communication | Lecturer, Harvard T.H Chan School of Public Health
Another spot-on Nieman Journalism Lab prediction, this one from Marlon A. Walker of the The Marshall Project: "For years, journalists have resisted collaborating with nontraditional storytellers, believing credibility comes from formal training and a clear divide between the newsroom and outside content creators....Partnering with influencers may require trade-offs, like easing editorial control or adopting a more casual tone. However, these collaborations offer a powerful way to amplify accurate information and combat misinformation." https://lnkd.in/ec4NvARc

In a recent Stanford Social Innovation Review article, supported by Skoll Foundation, funders are encouraged to “…move beyond developing and sharing stories and media narratives to reach another level where we can invest in people and communities to build their capacity to tell their own stories.” This insight closely aligns with our mission to offer evidence-based health information directly to the creators and communicators who serve as trusted voices in their communities. By equipping storytellers with research-backed data that's accessible and engaging we help ensure that health narratives resonate authentically and are understood and ultimately applied more effectively by diverse audiences. In this way, community-driven storytelling doesn’t just communicate facts; it empowers people to navigate their own well-being with greater confidence and clarity. Shoutout to those also working to make meaningful narrative change in their respective impact areas - Rosanne Haggerty, Jimmie Briggs, Giovanna Lauro, Maria Kim, Mark Edwards - we admire you! https://lnkd.in/g2zywi6U

We have been busy, busy over here at Science to People - finishing up the Fall term at Harvard University, applying for what feels like 1,000 accelerators (looking at you MassChallenge), grants (hello, Open Philanthropy!), and pitch competitions (consider us, Harvard Innovation Labs!), and taking meeting after meeting to introduce more folks to our work thanks to our increidble networks of advisors and mentors! As a part of this crazy application season, Rajeshwari and Brinleigh had to put together a little pitch video - check it out!
