【Rare Case of a Newborn with Kasabach-Merritt Syndrome】 Full article: https://lnkd.in/gigp-777 (Authored by Rhael Sousa Rodrigues, et al., from Uiversidade Federal De Goiás, Brazil.) Kasabach-Merritt syndrome, a consumption coagulopathy associated with the presence of large vascular lesions, consists of a set of signs and symptoms associated with capillary hemangioma with thrombocytopenia, which causes bleeding accompanied by petechiae, ecchymosis, and spontaneous hematomas. This paper reports a rare case of a child born with #cervical_lymphangioma (cystic hygroma) that later evolved into Kasabach-Merritt Syndrome, demonstrating the importance of systemic evaluation of veno-lymphatic malformations. #Hemangioma

【A Conceptual Model for Improving Perovskite Solar Cells Efficiency Using Machine Learning】 Full article: https://lnkd.in/gFGJn_JN (Authored by Weam M. Binjumah, from Taibah University, Saudi Arabia.) In recent years, #perovskite_solar_cells have experienced rapid development as examples of third-generation solar cells. For fast-tracking the development of new perovskite materials, #machine_learning can be used to predict their properties and expand our understanding of how they work. This paper develops a conceptual model that uses machine learning techniques to improve perovskite solar cell efficiency. #Solar_Energy

【Secondary Compounds Assessment in Some Street Plants Exposed to Air Pollution in Jeddah Governorate, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia】 Full article: https://lnkd.in/gsxQcTTj (Authored by Thorya A. Fallatah, from University of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.) Organic substances known as #secondary_compounds are those that plants create but do not directly contribute to their development, growth, or reproduction. They are not necessary for the basic life of plants, but they are important in how the plant interacts with its surroundings. Studies show that their interactions with environmental pollutants can have both positive and negative consequences. This study explores if vegetation planted along streets in the Jeddah Governorate might reduce #air_pollution through their secondary metabolites. #Street_Plants

【Sero-Prevalence of Peste des Petits Ruminants Virus Antibodies in Sudanese Sheep and Goats before and after Vaccination】 Full article: https://lnkd.in/g-6WD69v (Authored by Omer Algezoli, et al., from Central Veterinary Research Laboratory (Sudan), etc.) Peste des petits ruminants (#PPR) are an important transboundary viral disease of small ruminants. It primarily affects sheep and goats and occasionally some other artiodactyls including camels and small ruminant wildlife. This study investigates peste des petits ruminants virus (PPRV) antibodies in Sudanese sheep and goats before and after vaccination with a locally produced Nigeria 75/1 vaccine using a commercial competitive ELISA (cELISA) kit, aiming to enhance PPR control in Sudan by identifying geographical areas and age groups in sheep and goat populations crucial for PPRV circulation and maintenance. #Vaccination_Efficacy #Seroprevalence #Herd_Immunity

【Oregano and Rosemary Essential Oils in Collagen Fiber and Polyvinyl Alcohol Films: Application as Biodegradable Active Packaging for Ready-to-Eat Meat Products】 Full article: https://lnkd.in/gfYrU-yj (Authored by Suslin Raatz Thiel, et al., from Universidade Federal de Santa Maria, Brazil.) Incorporating #bioactive_compounds into packaging matrices has garnered attention for controlling pathogenic bacteria and oxidation reactions and for the potential to increase the #shelf_life of products, thereby reducing food waste. This study analyzes the #mechanical_properties, antioxidant capabilities, and chemical composition of collagen fiber and polyvinyl alcohol films infused with oregano and rosemary EOs, and applies the films as active packaging to sliced meat products, assessing their humidity, water activity, pH, color (L*, a*, and b*), #lipid_oxidation, and antimicrobial activity against #Escherichia_coli during refrigerated storage at 7˚C for 9 days.

【The Effects of Mild-Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy on Cognitive Function and Symptom Relief in a 35-Year-Old Male with Post-Concussive Symptoms Following a Motor Vehicle Accident: A Case Report】 Full article: https://lnkd.in/gEKBhfgP (Authored by Daniel Bricker, et al., from Universal Neurological Care (USA), etc.) Traumatic brain injury (#TBI) represents a significant public health challenge and #concussive_symptoms (CS) are a frequent consequence of TBI. Currently, mild hyperbaric oxygen therapy (#mHBOT) has emerged as a promising intervention for CS and TBI. This paper presents a case report of a 35-year-old male presenting with CS following a motor vehicle accident (MVA) and examines the impact of mHBOT in the patient on cognitive function and symptom relief by evaluating both objective neurophysiological measures (P300 and EEG analyses) and subjective symptom improvements. #Holistic_Intervention #Cognitive_Recovery

【A Genetic Algorithm Approach for Location-Specific Calibration of Rainfed Maize Cropping in the Context of Smallholder Farming in West Africa】 Full article: https://lnkd.in/g9eWWk3s (Authored by Moussa Waongo, et al., from Agrhymet Reional Centre (Niger), etc.) #Smallholder_farming in West Africa face numerous challenges, including limited access to seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, modern mechanization as well as lack of useful agricultural climate services, making it more vulnerability to climate change and variability and making it challenging to accurately estimate crop production through crop models. This paper presents an approach to address the location-specific calibration of #maize crop yield, which is achieved by using a #genetic_algorithm in combination with the dynamic crop model #AquaCrop. The approach yields optimal cultivar parameters and management practices that are tailored to specific locations and can adapt to climate variability.

【Domain Delineation Using Geological Data, Variogram Analysis, and Clustering Algorithms】 Full article: https://lnkd.in/gipukCJV (Authored by Farzaneh Khorram and Amin Hossein Morshedy, from Universidad Andres Bello (Chile), etc.) #Domaining is a crucial process in geostatistics, particularly when significant spatial variations are observed within a site, as these variations can significantly affect the outcomes of spatial modeling. This study investigates the application of hard and fuzzy #clustering algorithms for domain delineation, using geological and geochemical data from two exploration campaigns at the eastern #Kahang_deposit in central Iran, and uses directional variograms to assess spatial anisotropy, and defines the anisotropy ellipsoid for each domain to identify the model with the highest level of anisotropic discrimination among the domains. #Spatial_Anisotropy

【Use of Polymeric Materials in Construction to Improve Durability & Sustainability】 Full article: https://lnkd.in/g3PuwGea (Authored by Waseem Ahmad Khatri, et al., from Saudi Arabian Oil Company, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.) As a result of increasing costs of #corrosion and impact on the infrastructure, it's important that non-metallic materials are looked at to replace traditional materials to address the situation and improve the life cycle and #durability of the infrastructure. This paper presents several examples that show how the use of the #nonmetallic_materials improve sustainability and life cycles in the built environment by removing the corrosion issue from its root and using durable NM polymers in construction. #Metals
