As a state-funded workforce initiative, SciTech doubles as both a small business and student resource. We help connect Minnesota's STEM majors to unique, paid opportunities in industry, while reimbursing employers for half of their interns' wages (up to $2,500 per student). During their internships at Carba, Inc., Sylvia Berka and Matthew Steil helped develop a new reactor designed to turn harmful CO2 into a stable form of carbon. They learned first-hand that in real-world applications, many of the questions you encounter don't have easy answers...but there's something kind of exciting about that! We had the pleasure of meeting an awesome group of STEM majors at our Lunch & Learn event today! With students from Normandale Community College, Augsburg University, University of Minnesota, Minnesota State University, Mankato and Carleton College it truly was a cross-campus event! Ama Asantewaa gave a great presentation on the power of a professional portfolio and how to craft one as a STEM major. Thanks to everyone who came out! It was a fun way to welcome the weekend.
