With the launch of Operation Skyward, SCAA is embarking on an ambitious plan to offer greater range, endurance, capacity and a significantly enhanced life-saving service. To rise to this challenge, we'll need to raise an extra £2m every year. Find out how you can help here: https://lnkd.in/eeMXtRjp
About us
Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA) saves lives in every corner of Scotland, 365 days a year. Since the service launched in 2013, the charity has responded to over 5,000 emergencies from Orkney to the Scottish Borders. As the country’s only charity-funded air ambulance, SCAA relies on public donations to fuel its life-saving flights that bring help and hope to those suffering serious injury or illness. As an integral part of Scotland’s front-line emergency response network, SCAA operates two helicopter air ambulances from bases in Perth and Aberdeen, as well as one Rapid Response Vehicle at each base. Time-critical traumatic accidents and medical emergencies including road traffic collisions, industrial accidents, equestrian, sporting and leisure accidents, strokes and heart attacks, falls and agricultural injuries all feature in SCAA’s busy workload as it flies expert paramedic care to the scene and provides fast onward transfer to specialist hospitals. SCAA is a proven life-saving service that needs your support - to keep it flying to those in desperate need of an air ambulance, when speed and urgent medical attention are critical factors in their chance of survival. SCAA flew to the remote island of Westray to airlift a woman requiring advanced medical care at the Balfour Hospital in Kirkwall. Once the patient was safely transferred, the crew then carried out a second urgent medical transfer from Kirkwall to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, ensuring an ill man received mainland hospital care in the fastest possible time. Our new Airbus H145 D3 will also be equipped with Night Vision Imaging System (NVIS) - an enhancement already live for Helimed 76 in Perth. These exciting service upgrades will undoubtably help our crew save more lives and reach more people in Scotland, in time.
