Placing Philippines ops talent in ecom businesses

55% of the Philippines population speaks English sounds low, right? or does it.. (allegedly) only 78% of people speak English in the US still a difference, sure. but waay smaller than i expected for an Asian country, right? this became real when i visited my team in the Philippines back in June other Asian countries? English was a coin toss for a native and if they did, it was pretty elementary but the Philippines was a different ball game everyone spoke great English so i went detective mode and dug deeper turns out, their public schools? All in English every textbook. every class i don't have to settle for Google Translate convos with my team but i still make sure to vet for it an English test is one of our first application steps i am still impressed with how good some are (i even score higher than mine) language was created as a bridge for communication and communication is foundational to a good organization English skills are non-negotiable for my team fortunately, i don’t have to compromise by working with Filipinos. follow me for more stuff on hiring from the Philippines -Zack

who is Rico??? Rico could have been your next hire from the Philippines the one that moves your Amazon business up a rung 🪜 but.. he is already doing that with a client of ours ;) i first met Rico back in February below is a clip from that first interview right away i knew - he was a catch and sure enough, a client of ours felt the same ..wouldn't you? we had a brief followup interview and Rico was off to the races hired full time as a product researcher now, why am i bringing this up? (other than to make you slightly jealous, of course) Rico just hit his 6-month milestone with our client! 🥳 he started with no experience in Amazon just an attitude for greatness and has grown into a huge part of our client’s Amazon store this was our client's first time hiring overseas scary, right? not really we made the process smooth from training and leadership resources to 1on1 guidance if you look closely on our website, we even have a testimonial from Rico😉 i hope, one day, you meet your Rico! -Zack

TJ is from Calabarzon, Philippines He just hit his 90 day mark with a client of ours Soo I figured I would give you a quick breakdown of how that came to be 🔔Spoiler, it was pretty quick Apr 3 Discovery call with our client Alex Needed someone hard-working from the Philippines. ASAP. So we got to work... Apr 8 TJ completed an application He came across Talented from a Facebook post After watching his pre-interview I knew he was gonna be great I sent him our mock scenarios test the same day Boom, completed it right away Apr 9 TJ booked an interview for the first time slot available - another great sign Our interview went almost double the normal length Apr 11 Sent our client TJ's interview (plus 2 others).  Client wants a follow-up with TJ. Apr 26 Our client meets TJ and (luckily) enjoys talking to him as much I did Apr 29 We sent TJ an offer letter to start next the following Monday From discovery call to a signed offer letter, it took 26 days. And the top 3 candidates? Delivered in just 7 days.. Here is a clip from that interview with TJ Hopefully this gives you an idea for the kind of talent we work with DM if you want me to find your TJ 😉 -Zack

are you fine the first VA that can pass a test? or someone you ACTUALLY want on your team? look, VA’s are not the ‘commodity’ you might think they are there’s actual people behind that screen each is different from the next (even if they are on the other side of the world) and especially if you know how to find the good ones so why boil everyone down to a “test”? if you’re an entrepreneur, you probably didn’t like exams anyway and yet you are doing the same for your business? it’s why we focus so much on character and attitude in our recruitment process at Talented sure, we have basic graded tests like English reading level but figuring out how someone thinks about work? not as black and white i would avoid working with a recruiter that hands you the first person they can find there are some great people out there and you won’t find them from a test instead - choose a recruiter that gives you hiring options (including ‘none of the above’) i treat hiring from the Philippines with the same level of detail as any other hire would I enjoy working with this person every day? or do I feel drained after meeting with them? i’m trying to build teams, not a group of people. -Zack

your Filipino VA is not a subscription service. so why is your agency holding you hostage every month? i’m sure you have seen the overseas recruiting companies with their hefty monthly fees where the hire only sees a fraction of what you are paying sure, that works great for their enterprise value “we just hit $$$ MRR!” but what about the value YOU actually receive working with them? what value comes after month one? (besides ‘ongoing support’) at Talented, we only accept a one-time payment. why? because we want the respect to go both ways with dedication from the talent and the employer -we are not a temp agency- with this structure, there is no middleman for shifting responsibility it’s our client’s new team member and they invest in the talent’s success this way the talent knows they have to perform well  there is no “oh we will just move you to the next client in line” that’s what I want for the great Filipinos we work with- a client that is dedicated to their success -Zack
