About us
MISSION STATEMENT The Seattle Animal Shelter Foundation supports the programs and initiatives of the Seattle Animal Shelter by engaging our community, increasing awareness and raising funds. ___ In 2010, the Seattle Animal Shelter (SAS) and a committed group of volunteers recognized that there were certain needs above and beyond what the City of Seattle could fund. To better address these needs, the Seattle Animal Shelter Foundation (SASF) was formed. SASF is a non-profit organization run by a volunteer board that is dedicated to enriching and enhancing the lives of animals in the care of SAS. Thousands of dogs, cats and critters are helped every year and this support is made possible through generous donors and committed volunteers. By raising critical funds, SASF contributes to the health and wellbeing of Seattle’s homeless animals by funding life changing programs and services provided by SAS. We invite volunteers and the local community to be part of the effort, and if you are already a supporter, thank you. We can’t do this without you and appreciate your continued support.

Do you have a passion for accounting, financial management, and supporting a mission to raise critical funds for Seattle’s animals that are most in need? If so, we have a Board position for you! The Seattle Animal Shelter Foundation is seeking a Treasurer to lead a robust finance committee, oversee all accounting operations, and raise awareness of our functioning 501(c)(3) nonprofit. The Treasurer is an integral part of our 15-person volunteer Board of Directors. This is an unpaid position with a 3-year term that starts March 2024. The position requires around 5 hours of work weekly and attendance at monthly Board meetings. Flexibility to participate in in-person events is required.
