Last month’s Mutual Aid Medford & Somerville (MAMAS) free store was a huge success, distributing more than 150 bags of clothes to nearly 300 families in our community! 👏 Second Chances was thrilled to support this well-organized event with more than 800 items including new socks, underwear, undershirts, coats, shoes, pants, and more for all ages and genders. #secondchances #mutualaidmamas #somervillema #medfordma #clothingdonation

It’s National Sock Day! 🧦 Socks are among the clothing items many of us don’t think about until we find ourselves without them. Over the 20 years Second Chances has been providing free clothing to folks in our community, we’ve learned that homeless and low-income people spend a lot of time on their feet and in the cold, have limited funds and access to laundry facilities, and have higher incidences of health issues that affect their feet. Having new, clean socks is one way we can contribute to their wellbeing. Bombas has been a generous donor of new socks for our clients, enabling us to distribute nearly 14,000 pairs since 2017. Each year, Bombas has increased and expanded their donation of new essentials to Second Chances, now providing our clients with much-needed socks, underwear, and undershirts. These donations enable Second Chances to offer dignity and comfort to even more people in need in our community.
