👋 Meet Sarah Howes, Agency Relations Intern and Future Non-Profit Extraordinaire! 👋 As Sarah wraps up her 15-week internship with our Agency Relations Department, we want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible impact she’s made. Guided by Elizabeth Waters, Director of Programs, Sarah brought fresh ideas, researched food bank programming, and helped us expand resources to better serve our community. Her team shared, “Sarah’s thoughtful insight and enthusiasm have been such a gift to our department. Her dedication will be deeply missed, but we’re so excited to see all the amazing things she’ll achieve!” As she prepares to graduate with a degree in Human Development and Family Science from Georgia Southern, we couldn’t be prouder of her accomplishments. A big thank you to the Savannah Country Day School juniors for spending their Junior Service Day with us yesterday! From packing meals for Kids Cafe in our kitchen, sorting donations, and creating heartfelt cards for our Brown Bags for Seniors program to learning about food insecurity through a tour of our new campus, their dedication and passion made a huge impact. This new 130,000 SF campus for Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia enhances the community by offering essential food distribution, a marketplace for local agencies, and volunteer opportunities. The state-of-the-art facility is designed to address food insecurity by providing a centralized hub for food collection, storage, and distribution. The building features a modern, sustainable design with energy efficient systems and materials in an effort to minimize environmental impacts.   The food bank includes a spacious warehouse with advanced refrigeration and storage capabilities, a commercial kitchen prepared to triple the impact in the community and dedicated spaces for volunteers. The architectural design emphasizes accessibility and community engagement, with ample parking, easy-to-navigate layouts, and inviting public spaces.
