Con su “Bemba Colora”, we’re dancing into #2025, celebrating the #joyofculture with a tribute to the “Queen of Salsa” — #CeliaCruz, on what would have been her 100th birthday. 🇺🇸🇨🇺🇲🇽🇫🇷🇯🇵🇭🇹🇪🇸 Our cultural richness shines through these remarkable women, each embodying the beauty of cultural fluidity and their immigrant journeys. 🇨🇺 🇭🇹 🇺🇸 #CeliaCruz First Afro-Cuban-American singer to achieve international acclaim and an iconic figure in Latin music, Celia became the first Latina to appear on a U.S. quarter in 2024. “Embrace your roots, for they shape who you are and guide you through life.” – Celia Cruz 🇲🇽 🇫🇷 🇺🇸 #SheilaE With Creole-French, African, and Mexican-American roots, Sheila E. transformed percussion into a stage of empowerment. “She was the first child of Juanita, her French Creole mother, and Pete Escovedo, a celebrated Mexican-American jazz percussionist. Her godfather, Tito Puente, and her uncles further nurtured her talent.”Sheila played multiple instruments as a child, paving the way to becoming a global music icon and the first Latina to perform a solo during the Oscars in 1985. 🇨🇺 🇪🇸 🇺🇸 #GloriaEstefan Recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom alongside her husband, Emilio, in 2015, Gloria stands as a cultural trailblazer. “My dad brought us here to live in freedom and to live in a country that allows everyone to be who they are. We all have to stand up for what this country is. And I know that every one of the Honorees in this room has done that in their own special way.” From revolutionizing Latin crossover music to becoming the first Latina inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2023, Gloria’s legacy continues to inspire. 🇵🇪 🇯🇵 🇺🇸 #MimySuccar Born to a multi-ethnic immigrant family in Lima, Peru, Mimy embraced her heritage while carving her own path as a Nikkei singer. “At a young age, Mimy always loved to sing. She was born in Peru to a Japanese family and while she never fully learned the language, she understood it and maintained the traditions of her grandparents. A proud Nikkei, someone who identifies as Japanese but is born outside of Japan, Mimy started singing in Japanese.” Her contributions to Latin music are celebrated alongside her son, Tony Succar, who became the youngest Latin Grammy winner for Producer of the Year in 2019. Let’s #cultivatemeaningfulgrowth together. #inclusion #multicultural #music #culture #semillamulticultural

President Jimmy Carter once said, ‘America did not invent human rights. In a very real sense… human rights invented America.’ This powerful reflection, alongside his declaration that ‘Human rights is the soul of our foreign policy,’ speaks to the depth of his leadership and legacy. Carter’s unwavering commitment to integrity and compassion reminds us of the values that should guide us today—and in the future. #rip #presidentcarter

Celebrate the #joyofculture and the “strength of women in Black culture” through the artistic lens of Afro-Caribbean, Venezuelan-born artist, #AlvaroBarrington. Considered one of the most influential artists of 2024 by Artsy Editorial, Barrington was born to a Grenadian mother and a Haitian father. He spent his early years in Venezuela and Grenada before moving to Brooklyn, New York, with his parents at the age of 8. “His installation, titled Grace, is a three-part project that uses sound, painting, and sculpture to celebrate the influence of women in Black culture. It also serves as a personal tribute, honoring women from his own life: his grandmother, mother, and a close friend, Samantha. At the heart of the installation is a 4-meter-tall aluminum sculpture of a dancing woman.” Let’s #cultivatemeaningfulgrowth together. 🇻🇪 🇬🇩 🇭🇹 🇺🇸 🏴 https://lnkd.in/e5dNN3xy

We are honored to celebrate this meaningful partnership between Morgan Stanley, Semilla Multicultural, and Hispanic Executive. Together, we’ve uncovered essential insights that illuminate the aspirations, practices, and challenges shaping the financial journeys of Emerging Affluent (EA) and High Net Worth (HNW) Hispanic/Latino investors. The research study, created in collaboration with Semilla Multicultural, explores the concept of wealth perception and behavior through diversifying investment portfolios beyond the predominant real estate and entrepreneurial mindset. More than six hundred High Net Worth (HNW) and Emerging Affluent (EA) Hispanic/Latino individuals responded to surveys addressing their financial journeys toward multigenerational wealth. “The Emerging Affluent Hispanic/Latino investor values education not only as a path to personal success but as a foundation for community uplift and mentorship,” said Gabriela Alcantara-Diaz, founder and president of Semilla Multicultural. “Their growing interest in real estate investment reflects both an appetite for wealth-building opportunities and an understanding of the importance of cultivating strong networks within and beyond their community. Navigating the complexities of these investments highlights the crucial role of financial professionals in guiding them to make informed decisions that can build lasting wealth.” The report, The Latino Wealth Journey: Understanding How to Expand Multigenerational Wealth Accumulation, reveals that 90% of Emerging Affluent respondents focus on building wealth today as a way to create a legacy of multigenerational prosperity. Financial independence, family security, and holistic well-being are central to their strategies and priorities. While many Emerging Affluent Hispanic/Latino investors lean on traditional pathways like real estate and entrepreneurship, a growing number are embracing portfolio diversification, including heightened interest in the stock market. This evolving approach to wealth-building reflects a critical shift toward strategies designed to accelerate financial growth and sustain long-term prosperity. For us at Semilla Multicultural, this work is deeply personal. It’s a testament to the resilience, foresight, and entrepreneurial spirit that drives our communities as we cultivate pathways to greater inclusion and opportunity. We invite you to explore the report and join this important dialogue as we continue to #cultivatemeaningfulgrowth together. https://lnkd.in/eCKvFb-V

#DecodingLatinoVoters As more Latinos enter the middle class, their aspirations for building wealth and protecting their families grow stronger. Much like other immigrant groups throughout history, Latino men strive to provide for their families while integrating into larger society. Homeownership remains a key aspiration, alongside access to good schools and the tax benefits of growing their small businesses. “What does it mean for a young Hispanic man that is of Mexican descent such as myself?” said Enriquez, 29. “Homeownership is at the top of my priorities. It’s the one pathway to generational wealth.” Latino men, who have a higher participation rate in the workforce than other groups, are eager to reap the rewards of their hard work. While they are gaining ground in educational attainment, they still face a significant gap compared to non-Hispanic white men in both education and income. “However, there’s still a wide educational gap with white men and other groups: In 2020, 41% of white men 25 and older had bachelor’s degrees, compared to only 20% of Latino men. Latino men have a significantly higher labor participation rate than white men — 75.1% compared to 68.2%. But they also earn less, have a higher poverty rate, and are more likely to be unemployed.” Cultural challenges continue to shape decisions about higher education. For many young Latino men, the opportunity cost of college is significant. “For so many young men, they decide not to go to college because it seems like it’s a waste of time, it’s an opportunity cost. [They] could be going to work and trying to contribute to their family. … Those are very strong drivers for so many young men, and that’s often rooted in their own notion of being a man, right?” Necessity drives entrepreneurship for many Latino men. With some level of corporate management limitation, they turn to their skill sets to start businesses. “A greater share of Latino male-owned businesses, 21%, are generating $1 million or more in annual revenue than Latina-owned businesses, at 14%. But 31% of white male-owned businesses are generating that level of revenue.” – State of Latino Entrepreneurship Report, Stanford Graduate School of Business Small-business owners like Garza recognize the importance of better support systems to thrive: “Although he lacks health insurance, Garza said what he would most like the next administration to do is help small-business owners like him know what’s available to reduce costs, such as tax deductions — just like big businesses know how to do.” Now that the presidential election has passed, it’s the perfect time to reflect on what we’ve learned about the Latino voter. These insights reveal not just political preferences but deeper motivations, aspirations, and challenges within the community. By decoding these findings, marketers can foster authentic connections and create strategies that resonate with this growing and influential audience. #cultivatemeaningfulgrowth
