Wildfire is a burgeoning natural hazard that increasingly impacts communities in California and globally. While there is an abundance of research on understanding and forecasting risks from wildfire, there is comparatively little research understanding what makes humans resilient to wildfire disasters. The University of California, Merced, Fire Resilience Center is focused on human-centered wildfire solutions that meet the diverse needs of communities to help them become more resilient to wildfire. Funded by the David and Lucille Packard Foundation and the State of California Climate Action Initiative, the Fire Resilience Center seeks applicants for the Packard Fire Resilience Postdoctoral Fellowship. Applicants should have an earned doctorate in geography, earth science, environmental science, social science, or relevant field. Position includes a two-year contract, and competitive salary and benefits as defined by the UC, including 24 days/yr of PTO available on the first day of employment.
