This Valentine's day, we asked members of SMSNA’s new Communication & Technology Committee to share what fuels their passion for this field, and here’s what they had to say: ❤️I love working in sexual medicine because you can change lives! We improve confidence, repair relationships, and work to empower men to take control of their health! We get the privilege to talk to patients about their most vulnerable issues and not only improve their quality of life but also improve their longevity and overall health! -Dr. Helen Bernie ❤️I love working in sexual medicine because we have the luxury to discuss treatments and surgeries that improve quality of life. For highly sensitive and intimate issues, we can build trust and rapport to address things that no other medical professional has felt comfortable discussing. From an elective penile prosthesis to acute ischemic priapism, we have a lot to offer to maintain, preserve, and restore quality of life. -Dr. Juan Andino ❤️I love the journey of sexual medicine. What is often a taboo topic requiring a rapport with patients to fully explore their struggles and discuss all of the opportunities they have to optimize their sexual health. We are fortunate to have a number of great evidence-based treatment options that can restore an improved sexual quality of life. - Dr. Jared Bieniek ❤️People love sex, so I love sexual medicine! -Dr. Amy Pearlman ❤️As a sexual medicine specialist, we're entrusted with the most intimate details of a patient's life. We have a unique opportunity to make a significant difference in their quality of life. I consider it a privilege to be entrusted with this responsibility and to have the potential to create such a positive impact. -Dr. Joel Hillelsohn ❤️I love being able to break through the wall of stigma/discomfort and see the patients' eyes brighten up when we tell them we have options to help get them back to their intimacy so that they can connect in that way with their loved one! -Dr. Amelia Khoei ❤️I love working in Sexual Medicine because helping individuals and couples restore their connection is incredibly rewarding. I believe every couple should experience the love and intimacy of Valentine’s Day all year round! -Dr. Thairo Pereira Comment down below and let us know what you love about working in sexual medicine!
