  • The 2025 Black History Month theme "African Americans and Labor" highlights the invaluable contributions of African Americans to labor movements and professional fields—including medicine and gynecologic oncology. At SGO, we recognize that representation matters—in the operating room, in research, in leadership, and beyond. • Last week we came together in Washington, D.C. to champion gynecologic cancer research for our patients and communities. On Wednesday, we launched a roundtable with ACOG, AGOS, and WFRC to align on key scientific and policy priorities, setting the stage for stronger collaboration and advocacy. On Thursday, SGO leaders and patient advocates took to Capitol Hill, meeting with 19 congressional offices to push for continued funding for gynecologic cancer research. We also hosted an engaging Congressional briefing to highlight the latest treatment innovations and stress the need for sustained support. Additionally, we advocated for the establishment of a BIRCWH program at the NCI to further advance research and mentorship.
