𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲, 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 & 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆: 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯 𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝘂𝗻 𝗔𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻 Fundraising is essential for service organizations—but let’s be honest, the same old methods can feel stale. Silent auctions, raffles, and bake sales work, but they don’t always excite the community or attract new supporters. So, what if your fundraiser was a local attraction, a community event, and a force for good—all in one? That’s where Sharecrows comes in. 🚜 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘀? It’s a fun, fall-themed food drive where participants build creative scarecrow displays on their lawns. The community takes a Sharecrows Tour, enjoying the sights and leaving nonperishable food donations in bins at each display. 💡 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗜𝘁 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯 ✔ Raises Food & Funds – Supports food banks while giving your club a way to fund other initiatives. ✔ Brings People Together – Engages local businesses, schools, and families in a creative way. ✔ Grows Visibility – A standout, feel-good event that attracts attention and new supporters. ✔ Makes Fundraising FUN – When people enjoy the experience, they’re more likely to donate and return year after year. Fundraising doesn’t have to feel like hard work. It can be joyful, interactive, and impactful. Ready to bring Sharecrows to your community? 𝗔𝘁𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗩𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀: 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗢𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 Non-profits and service organizations thrive on the passion and dedication of volunteers—but attracting new ones has become an increasing challenge. Why? People are busier than ever, balancing work, family, and other commitments. Many also want flexible, meaningful experiences that align with their values. So how can non-profits navigate this hurdle? By rethinking how we engage volunteers. 1️⃣ Make It Easy to Get Involved Reduce barriers to entry. Offer short-term, flexible opportunities that allow people to contribute without long-term commitments. 2️⃣ Show the Impact People want to know their time matters. Share real stories and measurable results—how did volunteering make a difference? Show them, don’t just tell them. 3️⃣ Create a Sense of Belonging Volunteering isn’t just about giving—it’s about connecting. Foster a welcoming environment where people feel valued, recognized, and part of something bigger. 4️⃣ Meet Them Where They Are Use social media, local events, and personal invitations to reach potential volunteers. Engage younger generations by showcasing fun, purpose-driven experiences. 5️⃣ Offer Purpose, Not Just Tasks People are drawn to causes that align with their passions. Highlight the “why” behind your mission and let volunteers play to their strengths. At Sharecrows, we’ve seen firsthand how an engaging, community-driven initiative can inspire action and attract new volunteers. By creating meaningful, accessible, and rewarding experiences, non-profits can turn one-time helpers into lifelong advocates. 💛 What strategies have worked for your organization? Let’s share ideas and grow together! #Volunteering #Nonprofits #CommunityLeadership #GivingBack

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗱𝘀: 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮 𝗦𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗗𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 In community fundraising, the way we ask for donations matters. A subtle change in language can make all the difference between a polite refusal and an enthusiastic contribution. Recently, our volunteer team experimented with a new approach while collecting donations for a local food drive. Instead of the usual broad request—“Please donate to our food drive”—we tried something more immediate and specific: “While you’re shopping, consider picking up one item to share with us today. We noticed toothpaste is on sale for just 89 cents!” 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘶𝘭𝘵? Over 250 tubes of toothpaste were donated in a single weekend. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝘀𝘆𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗚𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 1. Ease & Convenience – Shoppers were already in the store. Instead of asking them to make a separate trip or spend time debating what to give, we made donating effortless. 2. Specificity – Instead of a vague “please help,” we gave a clear and affordable action. A single tube of toothpaste for under a dollar felt like a no-brainer. 3. Urgency – The phrase “consider picking up one item today” made the request feel time-sensitive and relevant in the moment. 4. Awareness & Education – Many people don’t realize that toiletries like toothpaste are high-need items at food banks. This message created awareness while prompting action. 𝗕𝗲 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗔𝘀𝗸 Every community has different demographics, awareness levels, and financial mindsets. When crafting donation requests, consider: ✅ Budget-Conscious Givers – Highlight low-cost, high-impact items. ✅ Cause-Driven Donors – Emphasize how small contributions add up to big results. ✅ Busy Shoppers – Frame donations as easy, immediate, and part of their routine. ✅ Families & Kids – Engage parents by encouraging children to pick an item to donate. 𝗔 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗙𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘀 Take a look at your current messaging. Are you making it easy, specific, and compelling? A small tweak in how you ask might be the key to unlocking a flood of support for your cause. Let’s keep learning from each other! 𝘏𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘧𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 𝘢 𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘦 𝘥𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴? 𝘚𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘴𝘶𝘤𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴. Together, we can make an even bigger impact. hashtag #Fundraising hashtag #FoodDrive hashtag #CommunityImpact hashtag #GivingBack

When we all do a little, together we can accomplish a lot. That's our motto at Sharecrows.org It's amazing what we can accomplish when we come together as a community. Feel free to share this image to encourage a diversity of support for your Main Street businesses this holiday season. Not everyone can afford to shop locally as much as they’d like. We’ve found that these reminders are appreciated and, with a little incentive, people will take action. In fact, one of our latest contests generated over 177 online reviews for local businesses over a 6-week period.
