Shield-Bearer removes the barriers to receiving counseling. We provide affordable and trustworthy solutions. We're here.
About us
Shield Bearer is a 501c3 nonprofit charitable organization with professional counseling offices in NW Houston, West Houston, Tomball, Cypress Station, and Montgomery County. On a budget of less than $500,000 we serve an average of 12,000 people per year. Thanks to our volunteers, donors and supporters, we are able to continue to say "yes” to healing the hurting hearts of those turned away due to financial or insurance reasons. Shield Bearer does not receive any government grants nor take Medicaid or other government insurance. We rely on caring individuals, businesses, churches and family foundations to allow us to continue to say "yes” where so many say "no”. With over twenty counselors on our team, we can see almost anyone. We choose not to accept clients who have committed crimes against persons. However we see many of their victims. There are three groups that your support is essential to our continued ability to serve: Human Traffic Victims – Minor girls and women who have been rescued from human trafficking stops receive counseling services in our offices. Now we are being asked to place counselors in several residential centers. Victims of Horrendous Crimes – You may have never thought about what happens when a person witnesses or experiences a crime. Shield Bearer has become the key provider for victims who have been denied Crime Victims Assistance for one reason or another. Active Service Personnel, Veterans and their Families – We have the best military in the world. Our military men and women and their families deserve the best. Shield Bearer has become an important resource to healing relationships negatively affected by military life. Learn more at www.ShieldBearer.org

In times of spiritual dryness, remember that God's presence isn't dependent on our feelings. He is with us, even when we can't sense Him. God's presence sustains us through every trial, offering hope and renewal even in our darkest moments. Psychologically, this resilience mindset helps us navigate adversity with courage and determination. Today, if you're facing difficulties, remember that setbacks are temporary, and God's love is enduring.

Does that make you squirm? It should, because it’s a scorching truth we’d rather ignore. We love to talk about our devotion to God, yet many of us have someone we can’t stand—a relative, a neighbor, a colleague, or maybe an entire group we write off. Dorothy Day’s explosive quote cuts right through our self-righteous façade. This quote dares us to examine how real our faith is if we can’t love the outcasts, the irritating boss, the homeless stranger, or the political opposite. We're called to do better, to be better, and to follow Christ’s radical call to love, no matter how uncomfortable that gets.
