Piracy is at its lowest level in decades, but the risk for seafarers and ships is far from zero. From Q1 to Q3 2024, maritime security incidents fell to 79, their lowest in decades. But crew safety risks remain high: 111 crew members were held hostage, 11 kidnapped and 3 were threatened. Seafarers aren't typically trained and armed force ready to defend the ship against any risk. But with the right technology in place, you can detect security risks early and often and keep your onboard crew, cargo, and your vessels safe. ShipIn’s powerful AI technology can detect external threats and potential hazards in real-time. The system actively alerts the ship’s command to previously unseen events, such as: * Suspicious craft, even a small vessel, approaching alongside * People / activity on deck when this is not expected, i.e. at night * Monitoring of the ships citadel (e.g. steering gear room) to ensure crew is safe Learn more on how ShipIn can help protect your fleet against security threats: https://lnkd.in/e6Skg7zp

#1 InterManager statistics show that casualties in enclosed spaces on ships nearly doubled from 18 in 2022 to 34 in 2023. #2 Research from Bureau Veritas | Marine & Offshore and the London P&I Club indicates that approximately 65% of propulsion failures can be avoided with today’s technology. #3 ShipIn Systems' data shows there are roughly 439 safety violations per month per vessel, which equates to the crew putting themselves and their vessels at risk 12 times a day. This reality raises critical questions: Are we doing enough to protect our crews? Are we leveraging available technologies to improve safety standards? The answers lie not only in our willingness to adopt new tools but also in our commitment to fostering a culture that prioritizes safety.   In a recent interview with Baltic Transport Journal, ShipIn Systems’ CEO & Founder, Osher Perry, explores the lessons learned from incidents such as the Dali collision in Baltimore earlier this year, and how the integration of AI technology i.e. FleetVision can bridge the gap in safety protocols and significantly help in elevating maritime safety. The deadline is fast approaching to comply with Pilbara Ports’ new requirements for Capesize vessels (deadweight >120,000) entering Ports of Port Hedland. By January 1, 2025, all vessels must have a CCTV rudder camera installed in the steering gear flat. A monitor must be placed in the wheelhouse near conning positions, providing real-time visual CCTV feedback of the rudder angle for Marine Pilot/bridge team reference during transit to/from the berth. Avoid potential non-compliance issues by acting now to secure a system that enhances safety, reduces incident risks, and meets Port Hedland’s requirements. ShipIn Systems' FleetVision‘s robust real-time analytics and visual information tools ensure that the Master, crew and shore-based teams will have the necessary insights to make swift informed decisions, supporting the purpose of the new CCTV initiative by Pilbara Ports which cannot be achieved by using traditional CCTV systems: * Improve bridge team situational awareness. * Enhance decision-making during critical operations. * Reduce the risk of navigation-related incidents. * Enhance overall vessel handling and safety. Following a rise in incidents such as personnel disappearances and collisions, Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) in India issued a Draft MS Notice mandating the installation of comprehensive Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) systems on Indian-flagged vessels emphasizing the need for stronger onboard security measures. A quick summary of the requirements: * Indian-flagged vessels over 3000 GT must have CCTV systems installed during their next dry-docking or within 24 months (whichever occurs first) * Newly constructed Indian-flagged vessels must have CCTV systems operational before sea trials * Converted foreign vessels must install CCTV within 12 or 24 months, depending on registry dates * The CCTV system shall provide continuous 24/7 recording, with a user-friendly interface for real-time monitoring and playback capabilities ShipIn Systems’ FleetVision platform enables ship owners and operators to easily meet with the requirement. Some benefits of our AI-powered system include: * Early hazard detection and immediate notification for data-driven actions * Enhance overall vessel handling and safety * Promote operational excellence using detailed reports and sharing best practices within your fleet Read the full notice for detailed technical specifications and requirements for the CCTV systems: https://lnkd.in/epb5bC44 Reach out to Gal Sagy, ShipIn’s VP of Growth to request a demo today.
