Shipco® offers a complete two-compartment deaerator in 304L and 316L stainless steel. This is possible with both the atmospheric or pressurized designs. On the pressurized design, the material thickness will be governed by ASME code requirements. Remember, it is critically important to protect the surge tank side of a two-compartment deaerator. The surge side is vented to atmosphere and is very susceptible to corrosion as opposed to the DA side. Using 316L can provide the level of protection you need to extend the life of this receiver. In addition, Shipco® can do a single compartment DAs and surge tanks in all 316L or 304L stainless steel. In addition, this is vitally important in applications where customers do not operate their steam systems on a 24/7 basis would be protected from corrosion during their “off times”! This can also have the added benefit of providing additional protection to your boiler on start up. ***Of course, Shipco® recommends operating your DA without disruption to maximize the effectiveness of the mechanical deaeration process.*** Please note: Systems that contain chlorides or other chemicals ending in “-ide” can cause premature failure in the stainless steel! One last thought for practical application: If you sell a boiler feed unit or a deaerator to the rental boiler companies like Indeck, Nationwide or WARE, stainless steel receivers will NOT corrode as a black steel tank would between rental periods. Check out Shipco® Deaerators and Deaerator Literature on the web.

Are you aware Shipco® makes Surge Tanks (make-up boiler feed units that feed a deaerator with continuously running pumps)? What’s more, they are available in cast iron and 304L or 316L stainless steel material. The cast iron receiver is available up to 500 gallons as a single tank or more if you yoke them together. The stainless steel option can be done in any size and a variety of thicknesses. What an excellent way to lock up a specification! In addition, we can make our surge tanks in a vertical or horizontal configuration for the same price! In fact, we can even fabricate them as a triangle shaped tank with Model U pumps on top if needed. Another configuration to consider is having the Deaerator stacked above the Surge Tank. We can also offer any surge tank as a floor-mounted unit! With the versatility of our low NPSH pumps, Shipco® floor-mounted style Type CS, CS-B, and SHM units can be operated as surge tanks. Floor-mounted units require no seismic calculations and no seismic bracing. There’s also no need for an extra condensate pump to pump up to the surge tank return. Condensate will easily flow by gravity into a floor-mounted, atmospherically vented unit. The surge tank is less expensive in a floor-mounted style than the elevated style for a number of reasons, and it takes up less boiler room foot print!

How many of you are unsure of what Shipco® pump & motor assembly to use or select for a job? If you go to the Shipco® website, you will see our Pump & Motor Selector under the “Tools” menu. This guide shows pump horsepower, NPSH, and the impeller trims for all Models D, P, U, H, MU, AW and AWF pumps used in vacuum or non-vacuum systems. We also added a Vacuum Pump selector for choosing the correct Air pumps for your Type LRV, BVC, BVMC, BV, SHVC, and SHVM units. Wow, now that’s a great way to save time. Just another way we try to help sell Shipco®.

Are you working with reverse osmosis (RO) or deionized (DI) water in your steam system? With the increased use of RO and DI water in commercial applications, it is critical to make sure that everything touching this liquid is stainless steel up and until the point where it is heated up to 200°F or more. Based on this fact, even the make-up valve assembly and all bypass piping must be stainless steel, or it will be susceptible to significant degradation in a very short period of time. By adding a pre-heat steam injection assembly, you can save money by not having to make the entire tank, especially the pumps and suction piping in all stainless steel. HOWEVER: You must preheat the water in the vessel up to 200°F; therefore, every system with 20% or more returns needing a surge tank, should have a preheat steam injection assembly. What’s more, by preheating the water in the surge tank, this will improve the deaeration process by eliminating the “temperature swing” or transients from occurring. This is a result of the water entering the deaerator at a constant temperature, allowing the regulator on the deaerator to become accustomed to the requirements of the system. In fact, you will most likely see better than .005 cc deaeration in normal operating conditions if you follow these design recommendations. Another benefit of a preheat steam injection assembly in the surge tank is that when the deaerator needs to go offline for maintenance, you can still operate your system with a higher level of deaerated water (200°F) using your preheat surge tank.

Want to increase your sales potential? Specify cast iron receivers. Shipco® is the only manufacturer who makes the 160-gallon and 500-gallon receiver sizes. Our castings are locally poured and therefore, our cost and lead times are very competitive. Shipco® provides a 20-year, corrosion failure warranty on our cast iron receivers. An important new Shipco® feature is the availability of the 304L SS pre-heat tube assembly, or Venturi Injector, on our 125-gallon, 160-gallon, 260-gallon, and the 500-gallon receivers. Imagine the possibilities! What’s more, you can mount up to 6 pumps on our 500-gallon receiver. The 125-gallon can mount up to 4 pumps. And remember, you can elevate the cast iron receiver. (15-gallon receivers and above) Finally, on high-pressure steam applications (150 PSIG boilers), why quote a steel receiver? Sell a boiler feed unit with preheat assembly or a .03 or .005 deaerator with a cast iron receiver. Who is going to bid against you? Wow, what an option for you and your engineers to work on together! If you are looking for a way to capitalize and increase your sales opportunities, remember that you represent a line with the most comprehensive set of cast iron receiver sizes on the market today.

Are you aware that ALL Shipco Deaerators have trays, and 3 trays at a minimum? Typically, they are inside the receiver (like our .005 DA-ISTP or .005 DA-SCP); but they can be external in a Dome. This is our models .005 DA-STP, (Pictured below with Removable Trays and Dome) .005 DA-STP-2C and/or .005 DA-STP-2T. When considering external trays, in the Dome, there are 3 types to consider: Non-removable dome (welded onto receiver) with non-removable trays (Generally up to 100,000 Lbs/Hr) Removable dome (flanged onto receiver) with non-removable trays (Generally up to 100,000 Lbs/Hr) Removable dome (flanged onto receiver) with removable trays (up to 600,000 Lbs/Hr at present) Our trays are always made from Stainless Steel. Available in 304L, 316L or 430 SS.

Shipco® condensate pumps can be and are being used for eyewash and drinking stations throughout industrial production facilities. Yes, especially in the automobile manufacturing plants! More and more industrial plants are not allowed to have human and process wastes mixed within their plants. In addition, it is becoming illegal to dump eyewash on the ground because of federal and state environmental guidelines and regulations. The perfect solution is to offer a Shipco® 80 EC, the 80 LP, or the AC unit located below each eyewash station for pumping the water away. Visit our website for detailed information on the EC, LP, and AC units.

Shipco® offers a FREE Certified Test Report on all Shipco® Manufactured pumps! Shipco® also offers an in person witness test and/or an actual NPSH test on your pump. And as the ultimate warranty claim prevention tool, Shipco® provides an automatic flow control valve on every pump rated 75 psig or higher. This prevents your pump from running out on the curve and being destroyed. This saves all of us on warranty issues related to poor pump installations.
