In the latest episode of Shock Your Potential, Michael Sherlock takes you through a powerful exercise to help you clearly define your goals for the remaining three months. Whether you're aiming for a major milestone or taking steps toward a larger vision, Michael's guidance will help you align your personal motivations with business success and broader impact. What’s your goal for the next quarter? Write it down, reflect on why it matters, and ask yourself: 1. Why is this goal important to you? 2. What’s your personal, “selfish” reason for achieving it? 3. How will it benefit your business or organization? 4. What’s the broader impact of achieving this? "Be very clear on why you need to accomplish this objective. It’s not just about the end goal, but the process and purpose behind it." - Michael Sherlock 🎧Listen in and make the remaining three months of the year count! https://lnkd.in/d7FwmzKX #LeadershipDevelopment #GoalSetting #PersonalGrowth #BusinessSuccess #ProfessionalDevelopment #Podcast

What socks are you wearing?

Thoughts From the Age of Compression Socks: Fashion Icon? I nailed it! I’m flying home today to see my mom. My 92 year old mom. Who needs surgery. I’m filled with emotions and filled with anxiety. Especially now that I know that the surgery has been delayed for at least 2 more weeks in order to do more testing. Family issues tend to put a pause on your professional goals. Or at least, they put them in perspective. Gone are the days (thankfully) where we believe in separation of work and life. We know that to try to leave the personal at home and the professional at the office is not only futile; it is also harmful. We can’t be one or the other. We are gloriously and imperfectly both. Today you may be facing something that seems to make it hard to focus on your work. You may be trying to keep up a persona of “I’ve got this!” You may even be juggling it all fairly well. But deep down you feel the pull. You feel the tension. And to you, I say, lean into this. Enjoy the ability to contemplate how this is affecting you while knowing that every single person in your company is also facing “something.” How would that make us better as leaders? Stronger as employees? More powerful as companies? How could we turn our humanness into a superpower that supports us as beings with lives that straddle personal AND professional responsibilities? I thought I would dress nicely today for my flights. I think I’m channeling the days when passengers dressed for flights. I have cute clam digger pants, a fun and comfy top and my favorite travel shoes from VIVAIA. And I also always travel with compression socks, especially on longer flights. I didn’t think about the socks when I got dressed in my outfit for the day. And I must admit to a moment of wondering how my Pippi Longstocking socks would coordinate. After all, EVERYONE will see them when I head to the restroom at some point in this 3 hour Delta Air Lines flight from IAH to SLC. But who really cares? I wear them for my own health, both physical and mental. I have a choice. And I choose to take care of myself. Just like going home is a choice. A choice to be with my mom when I don’t know how many visits I have left with her. What socks are you wearing today? And how do they support you in your amazing role, both professionally and personally?

Rising Above Life’s Storms. In today's episode of the Shock Your Potential podcast, Michael Sherlock takes us on a journey of resilience and perspective, inspired by the incredible frigate bird. Frigate birds can soar above hurricanes, flying for weeks without eating or resting. Just like them, we can rise above life's storms to find clarity in chaos. 🎙 Michael shares a personal story from a turbulent flight from Antigua to Houston, where she learned that while we can’t control external factors (like flight delays or thunderstorms), we can control our reactions. Facing challenges—whether in the air or at work—requires finding perspective and managing stress. By focusing on what we can control, we build resilience and improve our ability to navigate life’s ups and downs.
