    Most buyers while evaluating an AI platform, chances are that their first question is: “What about hallucinations?” It’s a fair concern. Nobody wants an AI confidently giving made-up answers. But here is the thing: hallucinations are not just about which large language model (LLM) you are using. It’s also about how your Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipeline is built. Quick analogy: Imagine you are assembling a piece of furniture you just bought from IKEA. The LLM is like a power drill - powerful, versatile, and capable of doing amazing things when used correctly. But the RAG pipeline? That’s your instruction manual and toolbox. If your manual (retrieval) has missing or incorrect steps, and your toolbox (augmentation) has the wrong screws or mismatched tools, even the best power drill will leave you with a wobbly table - or worse, a pile of useless parts! So, when you ask about hallucinations, don’t just focus on the LLM. Check how the platform ensures that: - The right data is retrieved. - Irrelevant or incorrect information is filtered out. - Context is provided to make the output precise and reliable. The real difference between hallucinations and reliable AI lies in how robust the RAG pipeline is.
