I am thrilled that YETI, the long-awaited Yacht Environmental Transparency Index software tool, has been introduced during METSTRADE 2024. This groundbreaking software, developed by the Water Revolution Foundation, is designed to transform our industry into a more transparent and environmentally sustainable one. It serves as a means to assess and compare the ecological footprint of existing yachts while also utilizing this information to enhance the sustainability of newly constructed superyachts. This initiative is a collaborative effort involving esteemed shipyards, naval architecture firms, and research institutions. It aims to assist various stakeholders in the industry, including shipyards, designers, engineers, service providers, marinas, insurance companies, financiers, suppliers, yacht owners, and charter management professionals. The most thrilling aspect is that YETI is being released in two versions: 💲 The Pro version provides enhanced options for paid users. 🤩 The Lite version is open-source and available at no cost for all users! I am eager to see its application and the tangible benefits it can deliver for the industry. As many of you may be aware, I am a dedicated advocate of women in the #yachtingindustry so it brings me joy to see an increasing number of opportunities to recognize women's contributions in this field. The first Women’s Yachting Awards was held on 19 November 2024 in Amsterdam, honoring the outstanding achievements of women throughout the yachting sector, primarily male-dominated. The awards highlighted innovation, leadership, and commitment, marking a significant milestone in advancing gender diversity within the industry. Andrea Tagliaferro of Yacht Femme served as the event's host, and three awards were given to highlight pioneering women who are influencing the future of yachting. I had the pleasure of chatting with two remarkable women, Cecile Gauert and Claudia Sanchez, about various aspects of yachting. ⛵ We covered everything from the American market, client dynamics, and specific needs to my brand's aspirations and strategies, along with the challenges involved in superyacht refits. The conversation that drew Cecile and me closer was sustainability in the superyacht refit sector. We discussed ways to make this industry more eco-friendly, focusing on waste reduction and minimizing environmental footprint in our projects. ♻️ This represents the future of our incredible but demanding field, and we cannot ignore it. Although it is a complex issue, where being sustainable often seems futile, we genuinely believe that there are numerous actions we can take, and we are determined to set an example.
