  • Why does SimplyBetter use animated analogies to help explain the body and mind? Research led by Gillian Rowlands and highlighted in a report by Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP), found that 43% of England’s working age population struggled to understand health information that contained only text. SimplyBetter is here to change this so that people no longer feel overwhelmed by medical jargon 🫶 Our goal is for SimplyBetter to be the number 1 'go-to' resource to improve health literacy. Using animated analogies, our aim is to help simply explain how our bodies and minds work using widely known language and every day objects. Here at SimplyBetter we want to transform the way people understand the body and mind. Our soon to be launched app will be home to a huge range of beautifully animated analogies that will use widely known language and every day objects. • Did you know that psoriasis can start at any age and affects around 2 in 100 people in the UK? Psoriasis is a skin condition that can cause flaky patches of skin which form scales. But how does this exactly happen? People with psoriasis have an increased production of skin cells. Skin cells are normally made and replaced every 3 to 4 weeks, but in psoriasis this process only takes about 3 to 7 days. The resulting build-up of skin cells is what creates the patches associated with psoriasis. There are lots of myths about this condition, head to the NHS website where they further explain the facts: https://lnkd.in/ebjz3wdJ #simplybetter #simplybettereveryday #psoriasis #psoriasisawareness

  • Let’s talk about e-cigarettes and vaping… Among youth, e-cigarettes, especially the disposable kind, are more popular than any traditional tobacco product. In fact, according to the 2021 National Youth Tobacco Survey, more than 2 million U.S. middle and high school students reported using e-cigarettes in 2021, with more than 8 in 10 of those youth using flavoured e-cigarettes. Michael Blaha, M.D., M.P.H., director of clinical research at the Johns Hopkins Ciccarone Center for the Prevention of Heart Disease, explains there are three reasons e-cigarettes may be particularly enticing to young people: 1️⃣ Many teens believe vaping is less harmful than smoking 2️⃣ E-cigarettes have a lower per-use cost than traditional cigarettes 3️⃣ Youths and adults find the lack of smoke appealing, with no smell, e-cigarettes reduce some of the stigma of smoking. Head to https://lnkd.in/ebzw4qs6 to find out more helpful information about e-cigarettes. #simplybettereveryday #vapingawareness

  • Who can relate? 🙋♂️ We definitely can and according to the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) they say that Doctors should speak slowly and avoid using jargon with their patients. Our vision is to create a platform that empowers individuals to take control of their diagnosis without complex written explanation, and be informed about their own, or loved ones, conditions.
