The Community Learning and Experience About Research (CLEAR) program pairs community members with Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center researchers, giving individuals a look into the laboratory and providing insight to researchers from our community’s perspective. CLEAR’s mission is to create shared understanding and two-way communication between community members and research scientists in hopes of educating and empowering participants, while also advancing patient-focused oncology research. Hear from some of our researchers and members of the community who have participated in CLEAR and learn more about the program: https://lnkd.in/e-X65MWM

With Giving Tuesday underway, we’re proud to announce that Dietz and Watson has generously offered to match all gifts to the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center Innovation Fund, up to $50,000, until the end of the year. As one of only 57 centers designated by the National Cancer Institute as a Comprehensive Cancer Center, we stand at the forefront of world-class research, treatment, and care. Indeed, the future is bright at Jefferson—and it’s looking even brighter with you by our side. Will you make a year-end gift today—one that has twice the impact? https://ow.ly/haHG50UjjPn* #GivingTuesday #untileverycanceriscured

To expose cancer research trainees to community outreach and engagement (COE), the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center's Office of COE and Office of Cancer Research Training and Education Coordination (CRTEC) developed a program offering trainees the opportunity to develop, implement, and evaluate a novel community outreach initiative. "This manuscript details the first cohort of the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center's unique program providing cancer research trainees an opportunity to lead a community outreach initiative from start to finish. This program allowed the center to expand impact by producing four novel community-based initiatives and allowed participating trainees an opportunity to understand the importance of including the community voice in research," said first author Rebecca Melillo, MS, Program Manager for COE at the cancer center. The paper was published in BMC Medical Education: https://lnkd.in/g7FVJdU8

We're proud to announce that Jefferson Health's Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Lehigh Valley Topper Cancer Institute has been recognized by Becker's Hospital Review on its 2024 list of 100 hospitals and health systems with great oncology programs. The NCI-designated Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center is a leader in clinical research, boasting over 140 active trials, including groundbreaking CAR T therapies, and is home to the largest phase I research program in the Philadelphia area. A partnership with Drexel University enhances our research impact, and our community outreach includes a mobile screening van that has brought cancer screening to more than 3,600 patients across Greater Philadelphia. The Lehigh Valley Health Network is now part of Jefferson Health. Its Topper Cancer Institute saw a significant number of new cancer cases in 2022, providing comprehensive care across eight locations in Pennsylvania. The institute is at the forefront of innovation, launching a lung cancer screening study using AI-assisted radiology and a phase 2 vaccine trial for melanoma, as well as establishing the region's first stem cell transplant program. We are proud to be recognized for our commitment to providing exceptional cancer care and advancing the field of oncology! https://lnkd.in/gcYSuXxp

We are thrilled that our brand-new Radiation Oncology suite at Jefferson Health's Cherry Hill Hospital is now open! Last week, we were joined by Jefferson leadership, colleagues, Cherry Hill Township officials, and other members of the community at a ribbon cutting to celebrate. Just a few months ago, we opened our new Medical Oncology suite in Cherry Hill. The new Radiation Oncology suite marks another milestone in our mission to expand exceptional, patient-centered cancer services in South Jersey.
