🚓 Amarillo Police Department (APD) is soaring ahead with new drones to keep first responders and the community safe. They're replacing their older drones with Skydio X10 in order to meet current security standards and confidently fly even in the city’s strongest wind. Adding a new dimension of visibility to increase situational awareness, these task-oriented drones will respond to a wide range of scenarios – from crimes in progress to fire detection and more. Features like thermal imaging will be game-changing, especially for search and rescue missions and detecting hot spots in fire response. We’re excited to support Amarillo Regional Crime Center Commander, Lt. Shane Chadwick and APD in their vision to equip every police department and fire station throughout the city with Dock-based drones. 🔗 Check out the full story at KFDA - NewsChannel 10 (NewsChannel 10 Media): https://lnkd.in/gdkHFKDh

Skydio is proud to support Travis Air Force Base, the 60th MXG and Air Mobility Command with the mission critical technology to improve inspection accuracy, decrease maintenance times, and improve mission readiness.
First in the skies! The 60th Maintenance Group has recently completed the first in-house drone training for Small Unmanned Aerial Systems used for aircraft maintenance in the Department of Defense. In the first week of operation, the drone pilots prevented $280,000 in damages to a C-17 Globemaster III and the program is already projected to save approximately 7,000 man-hours annually. This initiative is a game-changer for Travis Air Force Base, significantly easing the workload on maintenance personnel and a shining example of next-generation capabilities. Good news: San Mateo weather was horrendous on Thursday, with heavy rain and gusts up to 60MPH. When the going gets tough, Madison Taylor and our awesome Product Integrity team DIAL UP our automated flight testing, not down. We had an overall success rate of 167/168 flights in terrible conditions in one day from our HQ Dock Hive. The single crash landing was the first we’ve had in real-world conditions (wind was way above our recommended flight spec). We’re looking into it now and believe there are further SW improvements that would mitigate the issue. DFR operations without visual observers are a reality today, thanks to Skydio DFR Command’s airspace awareness technology. Situational awareness of your operating area is essential for safe, effective BVLOS operations and compliance with regulatory waivers. That’s why Skydio’s ADS-B integration isn't just an add-on—it’s a fully embedded feature that brings flight control and airspace monitoring into a single screen to enhance both safety and flight experience. With the X10’s built-in ADS-B receiver, aircraft data is displayed in DFR Command, giving the operator a clear view of the airspace—right on the flight screen. This eliminates the need for a separate display, which reduces cognitive load and allows the operator to focus on their mission. But Skydio goes even further. Our system generates pop-up alerts when an aircraft enters the drone's operational area—so operators don’t have to constantly monitor ADS-B data. Instead of splitting attention between multiple systems, they can stay fully focused on the mission, with DFR Command drawing their attention to potential risks only when action is required. By simplifying workflows and improving situational awareness, Skydio is redefining how operators manage airspace, making BVLOS operations safer and more accessible than ever.
