The Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal have fined Ashley Hurst £50,000 over breaches of SRA Code of Conduct for Solicitors and SRA Principles, and ordered him to pay costs of £260,000. This is in relation to correspondence sent to tax lawyer Dan Neidle. The Tribunal's outcome follows what was potentially one of the first SLAPP cases, but it was said that because the conduct was not deemed as repetitive it wasn't deemed as a SLAPP. Emails sent by Hurst were upheld, but letters were not - it is unclear what the SDT made of Hurst contacting Neidle through social media. https://lnkd.in/eD7m4kAZ

About us
SLAPPs - or Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participations, are harmful legal action and abuse of process, bought against people who are lawfully exposing wrongdoing. This is the LinkedIn Page of the SLAPP.blog website - which will explore the issues of SLAPPs, other abuses of process, and other legal issues. It will explore the actions of the Solicitors Regulatory Authority, the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal - and may even name and shame the odd solicitor! According to the SRA in the UK, a SAPP is legal action to prevent publication on matters of public importance such as academic research, whistleblowing, campaigning or investigative journalism. They are a threat to the rule of law, free speech and a free press. It is important SLAPPs are discussed and explored - as well as other legal actions that abuse the Court's process. HCR Law and Dr Saverio Salandra are being sued for negligence after representing fraudsters Matthew Quigley (Matthew Q.) and Zenith Partners in transactions where they failed to undertake basic fraud and money laundering checks - but proceeded to act regardlessly. Particulars of Claim filed with the Court allege that as a result of these basic checks (and concealment) that it exposed an innocent party to loss. Not only did these basic checks fail to happen, but Partner Oliver Weiss was informed by solicitors Anthony Gold of fraud and a criminal investigation relating to Zenith Partners and Matthew Quigley - which he dismissed as being "nonsense" in a letter, despite the fact that HCR Law had failed to complete basic client checks. Matthew Quigley of Zenith Partners..... the lies keep coming. Is Matthew Quigley a pathological liar? Excuses for ripping people off included claims he and his wife have cancer which is not true! Questions have to be asked why McCarthy Denning continue to represent him, and why Qsecurities are allowing themselves to be drawn into legitimising a 'fund' which doesn't exist! https://lnkd.in/eTmfVTtg #ZenithPartners #Poland #Fraud #BusinessFraud #McCarthyDenning #MatthewQuigley

Following our LinkedIn post a few days ago about Matthew Quigley (Matthew Q.) and Zenith Partners; HCR Law have written to us and advised that as of 2 October 2024 they are no longer acting for Zenith Partners. #Solicitors #MatthewQuigley #ZenithPartners #Fraud #HCRLaw

Fraudster Matthew Quigley (Matthew Q.) and his company Zenith Partners, appear to have found themselves in more hot water - this time on the wrong end of easyGroup, after falsely claiming that easyMoney was a client of theirs. Screenshots using show that very recently the easyMoney logo was removed from the Zenith Partners website, along with another company Gardenia Technologies. Ostensibly neither of these companies were credible references for Zenith Partners. easyGroup are fiercely protective of their reputation, and what they describe as "brand thieves", and will rigorously pursue litigation against those who use their brand without permission. #Fraud #BusinessFraud #MatthewQuigley #ZenithPartners #EasyGroup For more information on the Zenith Partners fraud, see here: https://lnkd.in/eCaGR8Ts

How have Matthew Quigley (Matthew Q.) and his company Zenith Partners, managed to pass the fraud and anti-money laundering background checks undertaken by solicitors? Did those solicitors continue to enable the fraud? Could their actions have avoided new victims? We look at how HCR Law continued to act for Zenith Partners and Matthew Quigley, despite them failing to produce documents Dr Saverio Salandra asked for in March 2024. We also reveal how top law firm Anthony Gold Solicitors warned HCR Law that what Matthew Quigley was doing was "untrue", "fraudulent" and in the case of a bank statement "falsified", in June 2024 - yet HCR Law continued to act as recently as September 2024. We also look at how Michael Wistow of McCarthy Denning boasted about representing Matthew Quigley and Zenith and his hopes of being "fund counsel" - despite there being no fund whatsoever. It is clear that businesses affected are entitled to pursue these firms for negligence. The question of course is whether it's negligence or recklessness - or both? #Solicitors #MatthewQuigley #ZenithPartners #Fraud #McCarthyDenning #HCRLaw #Negligence #Misconduct https://lnkd.in/eCaGR8Ts

UK businesses watch out for fraudster Matthew Quigley (Matthew Q.) of Zenith Partners, who is taking up front 'administration fees' from businesses for 'funds' that don't exist. Zenith Partners is registered in the UK and Poland, with Quigley residing in Poland. Matthew Quigley claims to have funds in Poland and Luxembourg, but it is all false. He goes to the extent or providing falsified bank statements from ING and Bank Pekao to attempt to legitimise his claims. He also claims the wealthy Polish Jurczyk family have invested in the non-existent fund.....but they have not. For a detailed explanation on how the Zenith Partners and Matthew Quigley fraud works, see the link below. #MatthewQuigley #ZenithPartners #Poland #Fraud #BusinessFunding

Lead Eclipse appear to be harvesting emails offering 20-100 "qualified leads" per month or supposedly guaranteeing your money back! Apparently this is "No risk, no catch—just results." The company registered on 2nd August 2024, but despite this according to director Liam Faid's LinkedIn Profile he has worked there since 2018, 6 years before the company was incorporated? Sounds too good to be true? Are they likely to run off with your money? It was proposed to Lead Eclipse they could be paid upon success, this was refused.... When it was pointed out that were newly incorporated, were yet to file any company accounts and there was a risk any up front fees could disappear (notwithstanding the GDPR breaches) - the response was "Let's all settle down". Seems like this is another scam. #LeadEclipse #Scam #LeadGeneration #EmailHarvesting

Coming soon, we expose an interesting potential fraud on businesses. We can't say too much, until something has been resolved in the Magistrates Courts. The perpetrator has tried to SLAPP us, so we can't reveal too much to avoid tipping him off, but the offender may have some resemblance to this character. #SLAPPs #Scams #Fraud #BusinessFraud
