Produced water is a great example of finding ways to transform that which was once considered a waste product into something useful. Take a water-stressed region like the Middle East and North Africa, for example, where the oil and gas industry is looking to convert produced water into a viable resource. How are they doing it? We’re pleased to announce the release of 2023 Women and Pay—Improving Gender Harmony at SLB. This report helps us to pinpoint key focus areas and actionable strategies to narrow the equal pay gap and continue building our inclusive culture. Since the publication of our first report in 2021, we’ve made significant strides: As of December 2023, women represent 24.6% of our salaried workforce. We’ve successfully reduced the median equal pay gap to 1.76%. The equal pay gap distribution has narrowed. In the report, we analyze the pay data of our salaried workforce, comparing the base salaries of male and female colleagues in similar roles and with similar levels of responsibility. Additionally, as part of an initiative to broaden the data points and take a more holistic look at the factors that influence the equal pay gap, the new report examines pay through the lens of parenthood. We are thrilled to recognize our colleague Ann Robertson-Tait for receiving the prestigious Geothermal Pioneer Award from Geothermal Rising, the world’s largest geothermal association. Ann accepted the award during the Geothermal Rising Conference 2024, which took place this week in Waikoloa, Hawaii. During her nearly 40-year career, Ann has worked on projects in more than 25 countries, becoming a leading expert on geothermal resource evaluation. She has shared her knowledge of the discipline with governments, academia and the geothermal community all over the world — with the aim of expanding the presence of geothermal in the energy mix.
