We're pleased to announce that we’ve been awarded a contract from Equinor for the front-end engineering design (FEED) of a 12-well, all-electric Subsea Production Systems (SPS) project in the Fram Sør field, offshore Norway. This project is a significant step forward in the wide-scale global adoption of electric subsea technology, setting new standards for increased operator control, subsea operational efficiency, and reduced offshore emissions. This project is the first to implement a joint industry project on electrification technology. "Electrification is vital to the future of subsea operations in the energy transition," said Mads Hjelmeland, chief executive officer of SLB OneSubsea. "This technology has effectively created the IoT for subsea trees, providing operators with improved control through live performance and condition monitoring. We are grateful for the collaboration with Equinor and the other joint-industry partners over the past six years that has made this milestone possible." Our Hydrogen Director, Rafael Fejervary, participated as a panelist at the Sustainable Energy Council Hydrogen Americas 2024 summit last week in Washington, DC. He shared the stage with executives from Microsoft, Linde, Environmental Defense Fund and Strategen in the "Hydrogen’s Role in the Future of Global Decarbonization" session, where they explored the critical impact of hydrogen on our journey toward a sustainable future. During this engaging discussion, he emphasized the transformative potential of hydrogen for hard-to-abate sectors and its essential role in driving these industries toward net-zero emissions. Check out his takeaways below. #H2Americas2024 Click the link to this article to learn more: https://lnkd.in/gA9iezQT

As the energy transition picks up speed, operators are looking to infrastructure-led exploration (ILX) from both a risk management and decarbonization perspective. What is ILX? It’s an approach that focuses exploration on regions that are already geologically understood or close to existing infrastructure—also known as “near-field exploration.” It’s a compelling option given its lower capex, shorter payback periods, and lower CO₂ emissions. The challenge is that ILX projects are usually developed with very few appraisal wells, so reservoirs must be understood in real time with the tool inside. This is where the latest and greatest in digital tech come in. Given their proximity and more marginal discoveries, ILX projects require some of the best digital tech to turn exploration measurements into metrics that ultimately accelerate development decisions. The right combination of these can not only reduce cycle time but also improve development economics overall. How? 🔵 Automated answers From the processing of petrophysical logs to the interpretation and classification of borehole images, AI-based algorithms are alleviating some of the workload, so experts can focus on more critical tasks. 🔵 Novel modeling techniques New algorithms such as the Meshless Smart Structure, along with next-gen 3D analogue search and surrogate models, allow us to build multiscenario environments that can even tell us which specific well measurements reduce uncertainty. 🔵 Cloud-based platforms Nothing says rapid decision making like connecting geoscientists and reservoir engineers with data flowing from the wellsite directly. Access and insights are both possible in real time now. Learn more about how advanced digital workflows can accelerate the exploration process from reservoir performance experts Li Dan, Marie LeFranc, and Morten Kristensen: https://lnkd.in/gSFwPYnj

A natural way to heat and cool buildings is right under our feet. By tapping into ground source energy (also known as geoenergy) below the surface, we can reduce carbon emissions by up to 90%. Pictured is Joe N Rouhana at our geoenergy facility. Those yellow boxes are part of the system controller, a.k.a. the digital brain of the operation. Using data from the building, heat pump system and subsurface sensors, the automated digital platform maximizes energy efficiency in real time. The platform also shares continuous info on the building's energy consumption, CO₂ emissions, system performance and more.
